NAME OF ARTIFACT

Teacher Interview Project

Date: September 29, 2014
Course: EDUC 101

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

For this assignment, I interviewed two teachers to

understand their perspective on teaching and to better
understand myself and my beliefs on teaching. I have
known both teachers for several years and respect their
dedication to their students. I met with and emailed
both teachers and asked them several questions. I
gathered their answers and combined them to create this
Power Point Presentation. In conclusion, I evaluated
myself and shared some of the traits, values and beliefs
I possess.

RATIONALE

To evaluate professionals in the field of teaching,

particularly their understanding of what
important traits a teacher should possess. To
document my understanding of the expectations
and qualities that make great teachers. To
evaluate their values, beliefs and /or
philosophies on teaching. I concluded by
reflecting on who I am and what kind of teacher
I will be.

CONCLUSION

Mrs. Valerie Petty and Mrs. Sherrill Hofer are two very different people with
very similar views on teaching. Valerie Petty has been teaching for 14 years
and believes a teacher needs to be flexible and willing to try new things. She
is passionate about teaching to every child at their own level, but challenges
them to meet their grade, state and national standards. Sherrill Hofer changed
careers to teaching and has been teaching for 6 years. She also believes a
teacher needs to be flexible. She is passionate at motivating each child to be
successful and ready for their next step in their education. Like Sherrill Hofer,
this is also a career change for me. I have served in youth and children
ministry for several years. I have also provided childcare in my home. I am
flexible and observant to the needs of others. I am also very loving, kind and
energetic. Now, it is my goal to receive a teaching license to continue to make
a difference in the life and education of children.
