Students will work in groups to collect clippings from the newspaper to show how it performs its the four functions:
to inform, to advise, to interpret and persuade; and to entertain. Provide students with a variety of headlines, stories, photographs, cuttings and
other front-page components that you have clipped from your area newspaper. Direct students
to arrange the components in an attractive, easy-to-read front page.
Have students clip from their newspapers at least three examples of each of the four types of news international, national, state and local.
Have students find examples of feature stories in their newspapers. Class discusses the various styles of writing in the articles. Students will
work in the same groups to answer questions based on the article.

Newspaper stories tend to create a lot of stereotype and prejudice from the readers point of view. Media coverage affects attitudes about
minorities by what is sometimes reported.

This movie can create some bias and stereotype toward the German culture because some parents and/or students might believe that all German
were part of the Nazis and still carry that hatred against Jewish.
