I, Robot.

A few years back, there was a new movie with Will Smith called I Robot (Im sure most of us have seen).
I remember the first time I watched the movie, it raised a concern that I might be able to see in my life
time, How to live with robots among us?
I know that it sounds a bit sci-fi, but I am 45 years old, and I have seen what science and technology
have done for us in the last 35 years and I can honestly say that even thou I use all this technology every
day, I am amazed with it and with what is to come. This leads me to believe that we will be able to see
the day that we coexist with somewhat intelligent machines.
I am in favor of the advance and progress, but only as long as it doesnt overlap with our identity. I think
that it is great that we have machines that do things for us and that we can depend on them, but when
you cross the line and start living with machines that can possible think even if it is on a basic level of
just understanding commands and executing simple orders, it makes me wonder what will happens if
something goes bad?
Lets not assume that it is another machine that takes control of the robots, but unscrupulous people, or
just the government in an effort to control us or spy on us. I believe that this is a bigger problem than
what we recognize it to be and that very soon we will be invaded by semi-thinking machines and the
question will be if we are ready to accept that symbiosis and how far are we going to let the situation
advance before we realize that we are being replaced. We will be displaced little by little by this
machines that at the beginning used to make life easier for us, and now they do our chores and our jobs
too.
