1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
The fantasy is that people think you can travel all over the world and make lots of money and also have flexible
timing, right? But the reality is you have to be away from your family a lot andits a lot of hours.
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?

My current education level is a masters degree in business. I dont think theres any continuous education that I
need. We have lots of trainings though. We have Ethics trainings and other skills trainings periodically.
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

Things I do daily include attending client meetings, giving them recommendations, team management, and
managing other people that Im in charge of. Its not a 9-5 job, and is more based on the clients schedule than my
own.
4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?

The job security of this job is moderate. There is always a future because the clients will always need expertise
from consultants. Were here to fix problems that they cant fix on their own. We have experience that they need
to draw on. I guess you could say the future of my specific company is moderate, but the job will always have to
be done by someone. How well we serve our clients will determine our future.
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?

The average salary at my company is about $100,000. A range would be between $75,000 and $150,000, but the
higher end is very rare.
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?
(growth potential)
Theres lots of potential for growth. We could go into different client fields, and help a lot more people than we do
currently. Its all about how we market our services.
7. What is the most rewarding experience you have had at your job?
I get to do rewarding things all day. I get to meet different kinds of people all over the world and have made very
good friends. Its been a very eye-opening experience to see how we can affect the clients future and solve their
problems.
8. How do you think that your companys marketing strategies have helped improve your business?
My company has a very good marketing team. We have a niche in the market so we can go after the biggest
clients in the field and win large contracts all the time.
9. Was there someone or something that inspired you to take this job?
No, just me. I wanted to travel the world and meet with people. I didnt want a 9-5 job. I fell for the fantasies of
the job, you could say. But I still think its a very rewarding experience even after I found what the realities were.
10. What is a challenging experience that you have had to deal with while you worked at your company?

Internal politics and people we work for who think were there to take their place. As a consulting
company, our goal is to help those that work permanently for our clients, but sometimes they think were
taking over. Thats something that weve had to work to fix, and make them feel more comfortable.
They also have a variety of different mindsets, and we have to deal with that. We all have different ideas,
and because we have more experience than our client, they have to learn to trust us, which they have
problems with occasionally.
