Legions Of War

Book 2
Chapter 8
Captain Natasha sat in her quarters and looked at her display.
The connection is secured, the female on the screen said.
Hi, Gaila, I need some information on a passenger, Natasha asked.
A passenger? Is there a problem that is interfering in your mission?
I dont know, yet. Here is his ident, said Natasha as she passed a file over the secure channel.
Gaila raised an eye brow, A human. Oh, I see he is a host.
That is what I have been led to believe, but why is a host traveling by cargo hauler? Surely the
Host Society would supply him with a personal ship.
You would think so, but what we have here is that Ambassador Host Silverwing-Arc is
exploring the outer regions beyond the human sectors. His AI is one Coraniria Arc. And shit,
Natasha, you have an intelligence agent on your ship. While the host is on inactive service since
an accident, his AI may be very active. Look, Natasha, Host Silverwing was involved in a reviving
accident that left him trapped in an underaged body. But his file is flagged as Red Red Level A1.
This kid is a fully trained Legionnaire with training in advanced warfare tactics, and hand to
hand combat. He's known to wield nanite weaponry and has quick reflexes. He is considered
dangerous and is to be avoided at all costs. But as to why he on your ship, it seems he is simply
wandering the galaxy. I would advise that you do not engage him.
Natasha sat back and looked at Gaila, Ill dump him on Harvest. He can find someone else to
take him to Dennior.
No, I have a feeling that if you tried that, the AI would intervene. Natasha do you know
anything about AIs and their Hosts? Gaila asked.
I havent had the pleasure. Why?
Gaila checked something off screen, That AI will kill to protect her host. If that means venting
your ship and taking command, she will do it. As to your mission, as long as you dont expose
the weapons stash in your cargo pods, I dont think she will discover them.

Natasha looked over at the ships clock. Wonderful, What should I do?
I read the report involving the Flox and the Delda female. Both are getting off on Harvest, and
you're taking on more passengers. I understand that there will be four more young Corli
females and a Symbiont Host. I would think that should distract your Host, and keep his
attention away from you and the mercenaries you have on board, Gaila said.
What do you think would happen if he or the AI learned about the mercs and weapons?
Gaila face twisted slightly, He is on inactive, but he is a Legionnaire. As of a month ago he
carries the rank of Ambassador. But and this is a big but he is technically out of his sphere
of control. I would say if he learns in passing, nothing will happen. However, he is sworn to
protect the innocent. If threatened I dont think any of you would survive.
Come on, Gaila, he is only a kit.
A kit that is trained to kill, with an AI that has a known history of killing first and letting others
sort things out, later. I dare say if something happened, your ship would be vented long before
you could get off the bridge.

Ready for reentry. All passengers please strap into the safety seats. Came over the ships loud
speakers.
Marc lay on the bed and closed his eyes.
You should get strapped in, said Cora.
We both know that seat is worthless, besides this is much more comfortable.
Cora laughed, So what are you going to do once we land?
You know Hila wants one night. What am I to do? Have a pissed off Delda waiting for her
chance at revenge? joked Marc.
No, I already sent her a message. I need you for the whole four days we are on Harvest and
she admitted that she going to be busy with her mom, Cora said as she hovered in front of
Marc face.
Cora wasnt really in the room but was projecting her image into Marc's vision.

Marc stood on the tarmac and watched as the IPF (Interstellar Police Force) handcuff Elie. To
Marc's shock, they muzzled him also.
Thats what happens when someone tries to kill someone on my ship, Natasha said from
behind Marc.
Marc looked back at her, You could have told me that you knew.
That would have risked him finding out, and possibly running. This way he'll never know what
happened.
What about a trail?
Natasha laughed, Why would there be a trail? He guilty as sin. We already have submitted all
the records and recordings. No, my little host, there will be no trail, just justice.
Marc then spied a large case being wheeled out and down the loading ramp with Hila following
closely behind.
What's with the large case?
Natasha looked over, Oh, thats Hila's mom. She's sealed inside for her and other's
protection.
It was then that Marc started understanding. Hila was facing a life ahead of her, that no one
understood or wanted.
I need you to get moving, Cora said in Marc's head.
Well, Captain, I think I will go explore Harvest a little bit.
Remember, we lift off in four days with or without you. Natasha said.
Marc left Natasha and headed towards the spaceport. What is going on Cora?
We need to hurry. I have an Autotrans waiting for you on the other side of the spaceport.
Thats not answering my question.
I received an emergency call while you were sleeping, the other day. We need to get to the
Host Society Sanctuary in Green Fields.
Marc stepped a bit faster, I thought there wasnt a Host Center here?

The Host Center and the Host Society Sanctuary are very different. So far, you have only dealt
with Hosts having Artificial Intelligence. There are hosts that also carry Symbionts.
Marc stepped inside the spaceport and headed to the other set of doors across the way.
I remember Natasha asking me about Symbionts. What are they about?
Here on Harvest there are two primary species, the Kuil and the Stanguards. Kuils look very
much human. Dressed you be hard pressed to tell the differences. But Kuil are born with a
pouch much like kangaroos on Earth. But these are not used for offspring. It for them to be
joined with an Stanguard. Stanguards look like fin-less fish. Due to some unknown reason Adult
Kuil cannot survive long without a Stanguard. In joining, the Stanguards share their lifelong
experiences and memories, Cora explained as Marc stepped outside of the spaceport.
The Autotrans is over there, Cora said as she pointed it out.
Marc open the door of the small yellow car, and sat down inside. To his surprise, there werent
any controls at all. Suddenly the car started moving.
Woo, exclaimed Marc.
Just relax, Cora said.
^^^^
LAUNCH! LAUNCH! LAUNCH! Natasha screamed at her pilot.
Outside of the ship the IPF started surrounding the cargo ship and above nine patrol ships
circled.
I am going to kill that host with my bare claws! Natasha screamed.
Before her an Holo-image stood, It wasnt him, Natasha. It seems that Elie Dugof traded
information for a lesser sentence.
Are you sure, Gaila? Natasha asked.
Positive, that host was called away to help the local Host Society Sanctuary. We have him
under surveillance and he made no stops or calls since leaving the ship.
The cargo ship suddenly lurched hard to the port and Natasha grabbed the armrest of her seat,
hard.
Gaila, I have to dump the pods. Rolin, prepare for a jump to light speed.

^^^^
Marc's head spun from the blast wave as a large ship suddenly exploded somewhere above the
space port.
As Marc's head cleared, he found himself laying on the ground with about fifty other being.
What was that?
Seems a ship exploded. Best guess is that they tried to engage their lightspeed drive in the
atmosphere, Cora said as she also looked up other ships to get them to Dennior.
Marc slowly stood up.
There an old building just down this street on your right, I want you to just walk up to the door
and enter.
Shouldnt I knock, first? Marc asked.
No, and dont worry, you are expected.
