Module 2 Lab 1: Installing the Agent


Scenario:
In this lab, you will install the agent so you can connect to data sources (CSV
files) on your local machine.
Goals:
In this lab, you will practice installing the agent.
Duration:
This lab should take approximately 15 minutes.

Instructions
1.

Download the agent.


1) Click on Configuration.
2) Click on Agents.
3) Click on Download Agent.
The Download Agent window is displayed.
4) In the platform field, select the platform for your local machine.
5) Click Download:

The Windows Security Warning window is displayed.


6) Click Save:

The Save As window is displayed.


7) Select a location for the file (we recommend placing it on your desktop)
and click Save:

2. Install the agent.


1) Once the download completes, locate the file and double-click it to begin
the installation:

While the agent is installing, the InstallAnywhere window is displayed.

The Choose Install Folder window is displayed.


2) Click Choose to change the folder where you would like to install the
agent (we recommend NOT changing the default installation location).
3) Click Next:

The Pre-Installation Summary window is displayed.


4) Click Install:

The following window will display while the agent is installing:

When the installation has completed, the Install Complete window is


displayed:

5) Click Done.
The Agent must now be registered with the org you installed it from. Enter
your User Name and Password for the Training org (same as you used to
log into the application in the previous lab):

6) Click Register.
The Agent is now installed on your local machine.

3. View the agent.


1) Click on the Configuration tab.
2) Click on Agents.
You will see a list of agents that have been installed in your organization.
3) Locate your agent in the list.
Note that the agents name will default to the name of the computer it was
installed on.

4. Rename your agent (optional).


1) Click on the pencil icon for your agent:

2) Enter a name for the agent (Jons Laptop, for example) in the Agent
Name field.
3) Click OK to save your changes.
