Pro-lifers vs Pro-choices: Get Over It!
Since the late 1800s abortion has been a long standing issue among American women.
During that time, women had the right to an abortion as long as they did not feel fetal movement.
Thats almost scary to believe. It has always been a social issue, but it exploded during the 1960s
when Roe vs Wade was happening and also when a drug that was made to treat measles had
caused fetal deformity, women opted for more abortions. It was then that the pro-choice
movement really skyrocketed. Now more than ever in the 21st Century, is abortion a heated topic
to discuss. Women on both sides just dont seem to understand each others point of view on the
issue. Is it really an issue though? Whether someone is pro-choice or pro-life is their own
opinion. The social issue will forever be seen as unresolved. With that being said, there is a
whole world of social issues and global issues that young women need to be aware of. Why cant
we pay more attention to these problems and try to solve them, then wasting so much time on
trying to solve the problem of abortion? Listen up Cosmo readers, youre about to be filled in on
important matters that have nothing to do with women rights.
The people of Cosmo are not trying to disrespect any person when we say that there are
more important issues going on in the world other than the controversial issue of abortion. That
is not what we intend on doing at all. All the writers agree that young women need to be better
educated on just as important issues such as ISIS and global warming. Of course abortion is an
important topic to discuss, but it seems that is the only topic women seem to care arguing about.
There needs to be an end to the argument because the fact of it all is ladies... that there never
really will be an end to the argument. If we could all just agree to disagree, then we can move on.

It is a touchy subject, we understand this, but we all just need to come to a conclusion that
everyone has an opinion and that their opinions are valid, no matter what anyone tells them.
Anyways, lets get down to the real meat of this article and what it was intended for: other issues
beyond abortion. Abortion has become such a social issue that clogs up the media and most
Americans arent aware of the other issues going on right before their own two eyes. For
example, does anyone really even know what is going on with ISIS and the whole lets take
over all of Israel, and produce another mass genocide, or the fact that more troops have been
sent over to Iraq to help stop them? The answer may be yes for some Americans who take an
interest in their country, but for the most of them the answer is no. This is because peoples
minds are wrapped around a prominent topic of discussion, which you guessed it: abortion! ISIS
(Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is an Islamic extremist group that has taken over northern Syria
and central Iraq. They control several oil fields in Iraq and are not stopping there. They persecute
several minority groups with severe brutality as they take over their homes. It is believed that
ISIS has over 30,000 fighters and that people travel across foreign land just to join the malicious
group. That is a scary number to think of. Also, isnt it terrifying if ISIS becomes a threat to the
U.S.? That could be detrimental to our nation. President Obama recently ordered U.S. airstrikes
and in return, ISIS executed an American journalist James Foley who had been covering the
conflict. There has been massive amounts of media coverage on this scandal and the U.S. has
been brought up to date with ISIS and where we stand with them, but are people actually
listening? You should be! Now all of you Cosmo readers are informed with a brief summary of
what is happening and what could happen in the future with ISIS.
Another ground breaking event that has occurred and may possibly start to save our
environment is that President Barak Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping worked closely

together to try and come up with a deal that will effectively reduce carbon emissions.
Considering China and the US are the two leading greenhouse gas emitters in the entire world,
the fact that they met up and are trying to come up with a solution is pretty amazing. Americans
should be worried about this, because after all, when our environment is depleted once and for
all, there is no turning back. There is no reverse option to restore our resources. All we can do it
help slow the process. People have no clue that their lifestyle choices affect the environment
each second of the day. Of course everyone knows to reduce, reuse, and recycle because thats
what school has taught us, and that is amazing that schools do in fact still teach that, but there
needs to be even more awareness. President Obama has agreed to try and cut carbon emissions
from 26 to 28 percent by 2025. That is outstanding! Also, the fact that the U.S and China has
agreed on something is a huge milestone in our relationship. Its history in the making. If we
reduce carbon emission, we will be able still make history. If we dont, the environment will
dwindle down and there will be no history to make. Its a sad, dark twist to reality that no one
wants to hear, but it needs to be heard. Its a fact and we all need to work together to stop this
destruction.
See, doesnt it feel better to learn about something new other than listening to the same
old abortion rally story where no one agrees with each other? For those of you who finished this
feature article, you learned about two new topics that hopefully, sparked your interest in worldly
affairs. If more young women knew what was going on right before their very two eyes, then
they could change the world one step at a time. Expand your minds Cosmo readers. Go beyond
what you are used to learning about. There is a world full of issues that need to be dealt with, and
you can help change that. If only you educate yourselves. We need to be better educated and
more importantly, we need to be a lot more concerned with what the government is actually

doing for our country, than what women are doing to their own bodies. Abortion does not need
to be the only topic of discussion for women to talk about anymore. You all can go out into the
world and apply what you have learned from reading this article and spread the news. Evangelize
Cosmo readers!
