Classroom Management Plan

1. Courses you would like to teach:

Middle School Mathematics
Algebra I or II
Calculus
Trigonometry

2. Classroom Structure
A. General Floor Plan: (Sketch or link a drawing)
(First 5 minutes) Enter Slips 1 or 2 problems that review anything that we have learned. This could
be something we learned yesterday or a month ago. One or two random students complete the
problem(s) on the board.
(5-20 minutes) Homework Questions Students will be able to ask questions on the homework or
topics learned the day before.
(Majority of the time) Lecture/Lesson This will be the time when I will complete the lecture or
lesson over the topics. This is when technology will be used in the classroom as well as cooperative
learning.
(Last 5-10 minutes) Exit Slips 1 problem that reviews what was taught during that days lecture.
Students will turn these in before they leave. The teacher will then use these to assess the students
learning and plan for the next days lecture.
(Extra time) Extra time will be given to the students to complete homework.

3. Classroom Expectations
A. Posted Classroom rules: (based on our notes)
1. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated

no bullying
no name calling
no swearing
no eye rolling
one person speaking at a time
anything else that falls under this topic (teachers discretion)

2. No food/drink allowed. Water is acceptable. Gum is allowed unless I see or hear it.
3. HAVE FUN & LEARN!

The rest of the rules, I will follow the school policy.

1. Cell phones
2. Tardy
3. Clothes/Wardrobe

B. How the classroom rules will be taught:

Classroom rules will be discussed on the first day of school. All rules will be posted in the room. These
rules will be taught by repetition and consistency from the teachers part.

C. How will you TEACH one of your routines?

A big part of teaching is leading by example. As a teacher/leader I will follow all of my classroom rules and
expectations. Since I will be teaching middle school, I will reinforce my students with the rules on a regular
basis.

D. What will be your pre-correction reminders?

Example: At the beginning of class I notice that two students are eating candy in my classroom. As a
teacher, I will just get up in front of the class and remind the entire class of the rules in my classroom (depending
on the student I may do a general reminder or a reminder to that specific rule). I will then make myself busy for
30 seconds to a minute to give the student(s) time to put the candy away or throw it away. When I begin again and
that student has not put it away, I will go up to them and use their name with the verbal reminder of that specific
rule. If neither of these pre-corrections work, I will move onto the correction procedure.

E. What will be your correction procedures? (Fully develop this to include all steps
including the point that you would ask them to leave the room and procedures for that)
Teacher has the right to change steps depending on the rule that is being broken or person that is breaking
the rule.
Daily Steps (students will start over daily but if the same rule is continually broken, parents and the office
will be involved).
Step 1: Verbal reminder of the rules to entire class
Step 2: Verbal reminder of the specific rule to the individual person
Step 3: Student will be required to stay after class with the teacher
During this time, the teacher and student will discuss the problem and what we could do differently.
The student will be reminded that if the behavior continues, parents will be contacted and if it still
continues the office will take matters into their own hands.
Step 4: Students will be asked to leave the classroom (to the office).

F. What will be your record keeping system?

I will use an online record keeping system, one that can be accessed from my computer at school,
computer at home, or on my cell phone. I am thinking some sort of google document would work great.

G. What will be your follow up procedures?

I will keep record of all rule breaking done in the classroom. If a student continues to break rules, I will be
forced to contact parents (with or without the student present). I will continue to monitor that student daily and
continue to keep the parents updated on their progress/decline. I will be sure to communicate to the student when

I have or have not contacted the parents, regardless of for good/bad behavior. I will also verbally notify good days
to that particular student.

4. Description of policies
A. Homework Policy
Put homework in box labeled with class period on it when students walk into the classroom. I will grade
each assignment that night and give it back to each student, graded, the next day.

B. Late-work Policy
Grade the assignment. Every day it is late it will be one grade letter lower.

D. Tardy
I will be using the school policy for students that are tardy in my classroom.

E. Clothes & Dress

I will be using the school policy for students that are inappropriately dressed.

F. Candy & Gum

Students will not be allowed food/drink in my classroom. Water is acceptable. Gum is allowed but if I see
or hear it, then you will need to throw it away in front of the teacher. Students that do not follow rules
continuously will be sent to the office (office will take it from there) and I will be forced to contact parents
if excess behaviors continue.

G. Make up Work
Students in my classroom will have 2 full days from when the assignment was assigned to turn in any make
up work. After the 2 days is over, the late-work policy will be used.
