Constitution Flip Chart Project

DO NOT WRITE ON THIS PAPER!!!!


Directions: Today in class you will complete a flip chart. There are 7 Articles (parts) of the
Constitution and there are 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights. For these 7 articles and 10
amendments you will:
1. Write a summary of the article/amendment (rewrite it in your own words, pretend like you
are explaining it to your little brother).
2. Draw a picture representing the article/amendment (something that will trigger your
memory)
3. Answer a question about it. Below you will find a question for each article/amendment. You
will be able to answer each question by using the actual article, your common knowledge,
your notes, or the book. The section on the Constitution starts on pg. 164.
Article 1: What are the two houses of congress called?
Article 2: What is the duty of the Executive Branch?
Article 3: What two types of cases does the Supreme Court decide?
Article 4: How are states supposed to treat the laws of other states?
Article 5: How can new amendments be made to the Constitution?
Article 6: What must all local and state laws agree with?
Article 7: How many months did the Constitutional Convention last?
1st Amendment: According to the 1st amendment can you and your friends write a letter of complaint to
Obama?
2nd Amendment: Although citizens have the right to bear arms, are there some places where you are not
allowed to bring weapons?
3rd Amendment: What Act from the colonial times does this go against? (look in your notes from Unit 1)
4th Amendment: Does a police officer have to have a reason to search you? Why?
5th Amendment: What is due process?
6th Amendment: According to this amendment can a person sit in jail for years awaiting their trial?
7th Amendment: Can you only receive a trial by jury if you are accused of murder?
8th Amendment: Does the government have the right to torture someone who has committed a crime?
9th Amendment: Are all citizens rights listed in the Constitution?
10th Amendment: If a power is not given in the Constitution who makes the decision regarding that issue?
