Describe your educational experience/artifact:

My educational experience was a PowerPoint presentation on an overview of the Basis Band and a comparison
of it to four other similar products. In the PowerPoint were five questions that all viewers were to answer by
using clickers. These questions were made in a program called Turning Point and were then implemented into
the PowerPoint for all to see and answer. Along with that, I also created a video on all of the features that the
Basis Band is capable of. After all of this was completed, a presentation was given to the class on what was
found on the comparisons. Through this experience, I feel I learned a lot about using different types of
technology that I will someday be able to implement into my classroom granted the technology is there to do so
with.

WSTDL (Teacher Education) Standard

I believe that my experience best aligns with standard number four. Standard number four is Instructional
Strategies: The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students
development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance standards. My experience aligns with
standard number four because there were multiple different forms of instructional strategies used in order to
enhance ones development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance standards (i.e. PowerPoint,
Video, and Clickers). Instructional strategies are a very important part of teaching and learning in the classroom.
The various instructional strategies that I used in my experience, such as the PowerPoint, video, and clickers
have helped me become more proficient in using different forms of instructional strategies.

UW-Platteville KSD

I believe that my experience aligns with KSD domain 3. More specifically KSD3.c., Engages Students In
Learning: The candidate has the ability to engage students in the learning process by linking appropriate
content, based upon suitable instructional materials and resources, to students knowledge and experience,
being certain that all students are cognitively engaged in the activities/assignments and that the students
actively contribute to the content design. Instruction is highly coherent and appropriately paced for all students
and allows for reflection and closure as appropriate. I believe this experience aligns well with KSD3.c.
because I had to use suitable instructional materials in order to keep the listeners cognitively engaged in the
presentation. By incorporating the clicker questions into the PowerPoint, it allowed for a time of reflection as
well about the product we were talking about. Through this experience, I learned about how to not only use
different instructional strategies, but I also learned how to incorporate all of them into a lecture where my
listeners could be engaged in the presentation. From this domain, I learned that by using appropriate content
through different instructional strategies, one should be able to keep their listeners engaged and involved.

IMPACT REFLECTION
Explain what you learned about teaching/learning from this experience:

I learned that the standard and KSD are very particular and group specific thoughts/ideas together. They are
both very important in creating an effective classroom. With standard four, I learned that students learn in
multiple different ways; therefore, it is important to use multiple different instructional strategies when
teaching. Also, with KSD3.c., I learned that by using a variety of instructional strategies your students will be
more engaged in the lesson.
Explain what you learned about yourself as a prospective health promotion specialist as a result of this
experience/artifact:

As a result of this experience, I learned that as a prospective educator, I will have a positive impact on my
students. I will incorporate both the standard and KSD into my classroom so that the students will be provided
with the most productive learning environment. By incorporating different types of instructional strategies, the
students will be more excited to learn.
