Annotative Bibliography
Pope Francis, Message for the Celebration of the World Day of Peace. Web. 6 Nov. 2014.`
Pope Francis offers philosophical insights about fraternity and brotherhood, including
how it affects society and the human family. He also quotes the bible and gives other examples
of human acts that both support and destroy fraternity.
Pope Francis addresses fraternity in most of his message and I can use that up to a certain
extent, however he does mention trafficking and I will be able to use that information for my
paper.
The Copendium of Social Doctrine.vatican.va. Web. 6 Nov. 2014.
In the Copendium of Social Doctrine, the Church offers information about and the
Catholic view of human rights, the specification of rights, the rights and duties of man, and the
rights of people and nations.
The Church speaks broadly about human rights through the Copendium of Social
Doctrine, so I wont be able to use it in great detail. I will, however, be able to use parts of part d,
article 157 The Rights of People and Nations because it speaks about respect for minorities of
every nation.
Catechism of the Catholic Church .vatican.va. Web. 6 Nov. 2014.
Article 5 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church offers the Churchs view of human
rights and how those rights ought to be respected and treated. It also talks about the covenant
between God and man made thousands of years ago.
This source offered very little information that I found suitable to use. However, there is
a great quote that I will include in my paper.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights. United Nations.Web. 6 Nov.2014.
The Declaration of Human Rights offers thirty articles about human rights and the many
ways they can be degraded and how they ought to be respected. The Declaration, in depth,
describes what human rights are and many different cases where these rights must be protected.
There was a lot of information that would not suffice in supporting my thesis however, I
was able to use the preamble and articles one through six as support for my paper.

Pope John Paul XXIII, Gaudium et Spes. vatican.va. Web. 6 Nov. 2014.
In Gaudium et spes, confusion about marriage and contraception is clarified. Pope Paul
VI talks about, in chapters two and three, The Community of Mankind and Mans Activity
Throughout the World, how we need to treat our neighbors with dignity and respect and how
people from different nations ought to treat each other with dignity and respect.
Pope Paul VI offers a lot more information about human rights rather than human
trafficking, but I will able to use some of the information in the two chapters stated above about
how the tension between countries and man can lead to tragedies such as human trafficking.
Pope St. John Paul II, letter to Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran. Twenty-first Century SlaveryThe Human Rights Dimension To Trafficking in Human Beings. Web. 6 Nov. 2014.
In his letter to Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran, Pope St. John Paul II talks about human
trafficking as twenty-first century slavery. He explains why trafficking exists, how it works, and
who exactly it affects throughout the world.
I found this letter to be extremely useful and I will be able to use many major points Pope
St. John Paul II uses to support my thesis and answer the questions stated above. I will also be
able to use it to explain how trafficking also leads to other serious problems in the world.
Combating Human Trafficking. Gale Student Resources in Context. Detroit: Gale , 2013.
Student Resources in Context. Web. 10 Nov. 2014.
The article " Combating Human Trafficking" offers information on different ways and
groups that are taking action against human trafficking. It also offers information on how to tell
if someone is a victim of trafficking and how to handle the victims.
The information offered by the article is useful to me because it offers more support and
information so that I can make my paper more diverse.
"Human Trafficking."Gale Student Resources in Context. Detroit: Gale, 2012. Student Resources
in Context. Web. 10 Nov. 2014.
The article from the Gale Database offers information about the history of human
trafficking and how it affects people all over the world today. It also gives a lot of factual
information about trafficking such as; how many people are trafficked each year, the number of
girls and boys trafficked, the age of the people trafficked and so on.
I will be able to use all of the information and facts stated in the article from the Gale
Database to support my thesis.

"Child Trafficking."Gale Student Resources in Context. Detroit: Gale, 2013. Student Resources
in Context. Web. 10 Nov. 2014.
The article "Child Trafficking" gives information about what countries are the most
infamous for child trafficking. It offers facts on what age, why, and the economic backgrounds
for the trafficked children.
I will use these facts for my paper to show how trafficking not only involves women and
young girls, but also children of all ages, genders, and races. It will also make my paper more
diverse and give it more life so that its not the same things repeated over and over.
Sex Trafficking.Gale Student Resources in Context. Detroit: Gale, 2012. Student Resources in
Context. Web. 10 Nov. 2014.
The article Sex Trafficking gives facts and information on the history of the multibillion dollar business. It states how women and children are most trafficked for sex and how an
increase in STDs causes the customers to seek out girls younger in age.
I will use this article to expand on human trafficking and the effect it has on many other
businesses such as sex and child trafficking.
