Wefoundthisarticletobeveryinterestingandinsightfulintoengineeringdesignas
contentinaclassroom.Rarelyisengineeringdesignmentionedascoreclassroomcontent
eventhoughithasbeenprovenasaveryimportantskilltohave.Onethingthatwereallytook
outofthisarticlewasthefactthatLewisstates,Thedesignprocessitnotlinear.Hinrichs
(1992)pointedoutthatconstraintsmaychangeinthecourseofthedesign,requiringthe
engineertoswitchproblemspace(Page6)Thedesignprocessisnotlikethescientific
method.Thereisno5stepmethodonhowtodoit.Youcanapproachanyproblemhowever
youwantdependingontheconstraints.Thisfreedomalsoallowsyoutochangemid
experimentifyourealizethereisanothervariable(anotherconstraint)affectingyourresults
