The Morning After Pill
1. "FDA Bans 'Morning-After' Pill, May 6, 2004." Historic U.S. Events. Detroit: Gale, 2004.
Student Resources in Context. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.
This article informs that the FDA had banned the "Morning After" pill. At the
time the article was written, the drug had not been tested enough to be sold. The drug was
thought to be possibly dangerous and harmful. However the morality of it all may have
swayed the decision to ban the unfamiliar drug.
I intend to use this article to dicuss how the drug may affect the body and the
physical part of the person. When talking about medical ethics, The physical part is a
factor as well as the soul.
2. De Melo-Martn, Inmaculada, and Adam Briggle. "Birth Control." Encyclopedia of
Science, Technology, and Ethics. Ed. Carl Mitcham. Vol. 1. Detroit: Macmillan
Reference USA, 2005. 232-237. Student Resources in Context. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.
This article touches on many contraceptives, including the "Morning After" pill. It
discusses the history of abortions and contraceptives in America as far as womn's rihgts
are concerned. It also gives details about the process of an abortion or contraceptive. This
articles shares exactly how the "Morning After" pill works.

The details in this article prove solidly that the "Morning After" pill is a form of
abortion by discussing how it works. Thus, my argument on why the "Morning After" pill
is morally wrong is made clearer.
3. "Roundtable: Pharmacists refusing to dispense the morning-after pill; Wilbert Rideau;
Title IX." News & Notes 31 Mar. 2005. Student Resources in Context. Web. 19 Nov.
2014.
This here is a news discussion showing the dialogue between people debating the
Morning After pill. The argument revolves around the morality of the pharmacists
when distributing the drug. Some agree that the Pharmacists, as a professional, should put
aside beliefs. On the other hand, they say that the pharmacists and their beiefs should be
protected by law.
When the discussing and debating the morality of the drug, it is important to
consider the morality of the pharmacists. The morality of the person having to sell that
drugs is just as important as the morality of the person taking the drugs.
4. Brown, Simon. "Battling over: U.S. supreme court agrees to hear cases that could reduce
americans' access to contraceptives." Church & State 67.1 (2014): 12+. Student
Resources in Context. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.
The article is an overview of a Supreme Court case involving Hobby Lobby. The
owner, Mr. Green, is arguing that it is against the freedom of religion to allow the
Morning After pill to be sold. The Morning After pill is just another form of abortion
that allows people to avoid the responsibility of a child.

I intend to use this article to show that the Morning After pill is a very
controversial drug for Americans today. I plan to use Mr. Greens argument to my
advantage to show how Christians feel about the drug.
5. Diamond, M.D., Eugene F. A Catholic Guide To Medical Ethics. 2001. Print.
This book includes several useful chapters, such as chapter twelve, fourteen and
fifteen, that apply to my topic. The book includes insight from the Christian side, the
medical side, and the legal side of abortion in any form. In chapter 12, the discussion is
based on whether the fetus is heard or not. In chapter 14, the discussion is centered
around the 5th commandment and the respect for human life. In chapter 15, the discussion
involves the middle ground on abortion.
I would like to use this information in my paper. When discussing the churchs
view on the Morning After pill, and essentially abortion, it is important to include why
the act is immoral. The argument of who speaks for the fetus and the disobedience of
the 5th commandment are useful points and evidence for the argument of my paper.
6. Lacovara, Philip Allen. "Broadly speaking." Commonweal 139.13 (2012): 2+. Student
Resources in Context. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.
This article talks about a Catholic Bishops syposium. The article argues that the
Catholic Bishops do not offer enough evidence against why abortions (the Morning
After pill) is immoral.
The writer clearly does not agree with the view of religion and its pro-life
tendencies. Therefore I can use this article as the opposing argument to my argument or
the churchs argument defending life.

7. "Obstetrics and Gynecology." American Decades: 2000-2009. Ed. Eric Bargeron and
James F. Tidd, Jr. Detroit: Gale, 2011. 374-376. Student Resources in Context. Web. 19
Nov. 2014.
This article discusses women and medicine. The part that I gathered from this
article is the paragraph about abortion. In this paragraph it says that girls can now get the
Morning after pill without a prescription at the age of seventeen.
I intend to use the age when girls can purchase the drug to argue how society is
+somewhat corrupted. With this information my argument can be further solidified
because to some the young age may be appalling.
