Dear KG1 Parents,

We hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday and wish you a Happy New Year! We will be continuing with our
2nd Unit of Inquiry and will be sending more in depth information about this unit this week. Please take
a look to see what we have planned.

Our Unit of Inquiry

Central idea: Through play we express our feelings and ideas which help us to come to new
understandings.
This week we will focus on: Communicating through play.
Activities: Journal activity about our favorite games, playing our classmates favorite games, asking
questions about games and exploring ways to find out answers to our questions.
Show and Tell: My favorite game! We will be encouraging students to bring into school a game they
like to play at home (football, board games, traditional games, etc.)

Language
We will focus on the sound R this week.
Suggested Vocabulary: rain, ring, rainbow, rhinoceros, rabbit, robot

Mathematics
We will review recognizing, corresponding and ordering numbers from 1 to 10.
We will also exploring comparing lengths of objects using terms such as longer, shorter, more, less,
equal and the same.
