THE PERAK MUSEUM

The museum is located in Taiping, approximately 65 km from lpoh, the state capital of Perak. It is
situated opposite the Taiping Prison about 2 km from the town centre. If you are driving from Kuala
Lumpur, head for PLUS North South Expressway and exit at Kamunting Toll Plaza. I walk everywhere and
its a nice walk out to the museum. Definitely worth a look. Solid building. Interesting bamboo boat,
wooden face masks. The Perak Museum in Taiping is the oldest museum in Malaysia. Sir Hugh Low, the
British Resident of Perak, had the Perak Museum constructed in 1883. The museum grounds had this
train. Taiping also had the first train service in Malaysia. These trains were used to carry people and tin
to the nearby .

TAIPING ZOO

Have you been to Taiping Zoo? If you are visiting Maxwell Hill in Taiping, make plan to visit this well kept
zoo at the foot hill of this popular hill resort. Located just beside Taiping Lake Gardens, this zoo is an
ideal place for animals to thrive in their natural habitat
The countrys first zoo, the Taiping Zoo, houses local exotic wildlife species is excellent surroundings. At
the Night Safari, visitors can observe the nocturnal habits of animals on a tram, which takes them
through the gardens and zoo areas where they can watch animals that come out in between 10.00am
and noon.
