Starcatchers is a pioneering organisation that specialises in
performances and creativity for babies, toddlers and young children aged 0-5 and their parents and carers in Scotland. We believe that Scotlands youngest citizens should be able to engage with, and participate in, high quality performances and creative experiences that are made by exceptional artists who understand the needs of this unique audience. Our work is designed to nurture young childrens creative and cognitive development, sparking their imaginations. We do this through 3 strands of activity: Creative Development and Community Engagement a programme to connect artists into communities, supported by research and development measuring the long-term impact this engagement has on the babies, toddlers and children they work with. Producing and Commissioning a programme to eneable artists to develop and present innovative, high quality, inspiring productions and installations to share with audiences cross Scotland and beyond. Practice Development a programme of training for Early Years practitioners and artists to develop their creative practice, which in turn has an impact on the children and families they work with. Our long-term goal is to raise the profile of arts and creativity in Early Years to ensure that all of Scotlands youngest children have access to high quality, innovative, experiences.
