Do violent video games cause violence?

One perceives violent video games as a drive for children to harm others or objects. In
the other hand, violent video games stimulates children to have the sense of enjoyment. Due to
multiple studies, Children exposed to violent programming at a young age have a higher
tendency for violent and aggressive behavior later in life. Although there are studies that say
violent video games affect children, there are other studies that say otherwise. Occasionally,
someone can accuse the child playing the game instead of the video game itself. There are less
crime rates, and parents arent teaching their children the difference between what is real and
what is fantasy. Therefore, violent video games does not affect a child or their wrongdoings.
Initially, Its not the game content itself, its the one playing. In the article, Violent Video
Games dont Make Players Aggressive it describes that, Whether playing a violent or
nonviolent game, they may lead to frustration. Its not video games that make players aggressive;
lack of practice and difficult levels do. With the actual content of the game, and the lack of
practice, usage of awkward controls, and unnecessarily difficult levels, often leads to a childs
frustration. As for frustrating games may cause any child to rage or lash out to others by their
own hardships while being engaged in the game. Versus violent video games that dont contain
any burdensome objectives, and still have the child play in leisure. Furthermore, in Eight Myths
About Video Games Debunked it establishes that, Researchers find that people serving time
for violent crimes typically consume less media before committing their crimes than the average
person in the general population. This determines that nearly all afflicting crimes aren't hung up

around violent games. Behalf of criminals are unable to use or are unacquainted with any gaming
devices provides a solid observation that violent video games don't qualify to barbarous actions.
In addition to the players reactions should being responsible for any violent action, Young
people in general are more likely to be gamers (90 percent are boys, 40 percent are girls) and yet
the overwhelming majority of kids who play dont commit antisocial acts. Although its true
that young offenders who have committed school shootings have also been game players, most
kids who play- dont commit sociopathic acts. As a result, the cause of violence isnt within the
type of the game but the person and their reactions towards them. Not only can you blame the
player, but records of the downfall in crime rates tell otherwise.
With a high percentage of game players and less crimes, the article, Video games don't
cause violence shows that If playing video games give children violent tendencies, you should
see a direct correlation of national crime statistics. Instead, rates of murder, robbery, and rape in
the United States are the lowest it has been in 20 years. If the cause of violence is playing
violent video games, then as of now, there should be more crimes. However, crimes in the United
States have been the lowest in 20 years. To have various crimes in the United States and still
manage to be the lowest it has been for their national crime rate statistics in over 20 years, it
shows that children who actually play violent video games dont do much of gruesome acts.
Therefore, we shouldnt blame video games for actual violence. As well as In Japan, (where
many of the games are created) the rate of gun-related homicide is 200 times lower than in the
United States. Where many of the violent video games are created, it seems to be that the rate of
violent crimes is much lower than if it were to be compared to the rates of the United States. If
children have violent propensities due to violent video games, most of the gun related homicide
should be attempted. Yet studies have proven that contrasting the state where many of the games

Villanueva 3
are created to the state where most school shootings are held, is resulted to be 200 times lower.
Along with that, the article Playing Video Games vs. Acts of Violence, informs us that Its
easier to blame the video games because the games seem like something we could regulate, we
could curtail, we could take away. We blame video games for the cause of violence because its
less complicated than having to talk about violence in the family, bullying at school, basically
things that involve human factors. Consequently, the low crime rates and the blame of video
games only is another reason why video games in general dont cause anything substandard.
The way parents are disciplining their children may also be a reason why violent video
games dont cause violence. Reason being is that in Do Violent Video Games Lead to Real
Violence states that Parents are not teaching their children the difference between whats real
and whats fantasy. Knowing the dissimilarity between nonfiction and imagination can provide
one with further information so that a single doesnt go out into the real world and undertake an
unrealistic movement. Moreover, Parents need to pay attention to what their child(ren) is/are
doing and step up when something seems amiss. One should be aware that some children dont
yet have full intelligence nor full capability of what theyre doing. Thats why as a parent, if you
notice that your child is doing something unknowledgable, you should always try to stop them.
If a game is too violent, parents need to get rid of it - even if it angers the kids. Before buying a
game for your child, it should always be necessary to check what the game is rated and if its safe
for your child to play. Otherwise, your child will become desensitized to the game they play and
may or may not go out into the world to accomplish something unintelligent. Because of parents
not being able to discipline or look out for their children the right way, can cause children to
perform things in the wrong way unknowingly- not because of the video games, but because of
how they were raised to do things differently.

With the evidence provided, video games are not the cause to violence despite that in the view
of the fact that it may just be the actual self instead of the game, studies that there are less crime
rates committed rather than more, and how the parents regulate their child. Hopefully, you now
acknowledge my response to the question, do violent video games lead to real violence?
