Can Video Games Cause Violence
Video game controversies are scientific arguments about whether the content of games
can change the behavior and attitude of a person. I believe that parents need to teach what's
real and what's not. Video games can cause increased aggression, and most killers translate
video games into the real world. Do you believe that video games translate to violence in the
real world?
First, I believe parents need to confirm the inequality between what's real, and what isn't.
To illustrate, there's a game called "Grand Theft Auto". In this game, players steal cars and kill
cops. Devin Moore was arrested for car theft. While the policemen were booking him at the
station, Moore more attacked one police man, and shot two others. Then ran out and stole a
police car. He had no criminal history, however he played a lot of "Grand Theft Auto". In my
opinion, parents or guardians need to inform their children that rules in a video game, don't
apply in the real world. Kristina Vingre goes to Springfeild Highschol, and states that if a video
games does contribute to violence, it's because parents are not teaching the difference between
what's fantasy and what's real. It's follows that parents are becoming afraid of their own
offspring, making it harder to discipline. "... I have never seen so many kids who are
disrespectful, and mouthy, and nasty." Explains Kathy Royer, a clinical nurse specialist.
A controversial study conducted in Singapore states that kids who play violent video
games my experience an increase in aggressive thoughts, which could boost their aggressive
behavior. "Children and adolescents who played a lot of violent games change over time.

They start to see aggressive solutions as being more reasonable...", explains Craig Anderson, a
study researcher. For example some believe video games are even more likely to affect
behavior because they are immersive. People don't just watch video games; they interact with
them. The video games are also based on the rewards system. Which proves a psychological
concept in which behavioral learning takes place as a result of rewarding for particular
behaviors. Some video games give a "fight or flight" response in children who play videogames.
Their heart rate and blood pressure seem to increase, and the adrenal glands release
adrenaline. This can conclude that exposure to violent video games poses a public health threat
to children and teens. In addition, I think that video games to be played less at a time.
Furthermore, some subjects translate video games into reality which should not be
happening. In 1997, Evan Ramsey brought a shotgun to school and shot four victims, killing
two. He played a lot of "Doom", where you have to shoot a character many times before they
cash in one's chips. Later, Ramsey clarified why he was surprised that the rule did not apply in
real life. Television also has effect on kids behavior. Kids who watch more than five hours of TV
every day are most likely to smoke cigarettes. Anders Breivik had obliterated 77 people at a
summer camp in Norway. He said he train to the tack using the harsh game "Call of Duty",
which happened to be played by Adam Lanza, the shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary.
On the other hand, researchers have found that players showed greater levels of
aggression when they're unable to master of games controls after 20 minutes- regardless of
whether that game included violent content or not. "If the players feel thwarted by the controls or

design of the game they can wind up feeling aggressive," said Dr. Andrew Przybylski from the
Oxford Internet Institute.
It's likely we will never know whether virtual violence begets actual violence. The
adolescence needs to inform the difference between fiction and nonfiction. I do, and will always

believe that violent video games render into reality, and that they can increase a players
aggression. To conclude, the connection between violent game play and actual violence has
many wondering about the effects of immersive violence on young minds.
