Do video Games Really Cause Violence?
97% of Americas adolescents play video games as of 2008 according to pro-cons website.
One reason video games do not cause violence is there could be family issues. As well as
parents are not teaching their kids what's real and what isnt. But maybe some people just need
something to blame the recent acts of violence on. Video games do not lead to real violence.
Some of the information is more conclusive that is family issues and I hold on to that said
Kathy Royer family issues can have a big impact on the brain. Also it can make a person sad
and depressed or maybe even make them emotionally unstable. We need more providers and
a safer place for the mentally ill Royer said, Places like a halfway house or group-type
homes. Some people play video games because they are naturally violent people. What they
want to do in real life they can do in a video game, according to avid weekly article of video
game violence. An adolescent named Devin Moore played a lot of grand theft auto. One day he
was taken into the police station in suspicion of stealing a car. He shot two police officers then
stole a police car and speed off. When someone goes and shoots like that there is mental
illness and then there is evil Royer said. Acting out the actions in grand theft auto isnt
necessarily the cause and effect. It is a real life psychopath enjoying a virtual video game. I
think people who do violent acts need to go get help said the University of Mount Union
sophomore. This links with the Devin Moore case because it helps support the fact if you have
mental illness it is not the video game companies fault on how you react to the information.
It could similarly be argued that bread consumption predicts school shootings, because
most school shooters likely consumed a bread product within 24 hours before their violent acts.
Said Professor Patrick Markey.People just need something to blame the recent acts of violence
on. In the 1950s people blamed comic books for kids bad behaviors. In the 1960s rocknroll
made kids do drugs and in the 80s heavy metal music made kids commit suicide. The late 90s
and early 2000s is officially the age of blame the video game, according to avid weekly. People
need start taking responsibility for their actions. Video games don't take responsibility for your
actions. You have to take the responsibility. After a school shooting in columbine high school the
widow of a murdered teacher tried to sue publishers of violent video game companies. The
judge threw the lawsuit out because the content did not rise to the level of incitement of
violence, the publishers could not have anticipated what happened at the school.
If video games do contribute to violence it is because parents are not teaching their kids
between whats real and whats fantasy. Said a 15 year old springfield high school student. In
1997, a sixteen year old adolescent brought a shotgun into his school. He then shot four people
killing two. The boy played a game where you have to shoot a character many times before it
dies he ended up in shock that the rule did not apply in real life.People dont just watch video
games, they interact with them according to avid weekly. This is why it is important to teach
your kids between the differences of a fantasy game and real life situations. In video games
most problems are resorted in killing someone as in real life you have to logically figure out your
problems.

Many people believe video games do lead to real violence when it comes to video games
there is some research that says kids playing video games can lead to aggressive behaviors,
however, assigning blame solely to video games is a mistake, said Kathy Royer. Video games
are not necessarily the issue. its a matter of knowing when your actions are limited. In many
ways its the same argument we have heard for decades about violence says avid weekly
article. This helps support that people are just trying to blame it on something.
In conclusion, you can see in this essay it can be proven that video games dont cause
violence or it can simply be said they do cause violence. Today they are still trying to crack the
code to see the real answer. Its up to you to decide whether the answer it causes violence or it
does not and you can use this information to set boundaries on your childrens video game
privileges.
