Legions Of War

Book 2
Chapter 10
Cora paced the room. Marc was in the emergency center suffering from
Neurological shock due to coming out of podding so abruptly. That, mixed
with the water he inhaled, was making things hard for the healers.
Marc's biology wasnt too much of a problem for the Kuil. Most of Marc
organs were in the same place (Except for not having a pouch) and his
wetware was well mapped out, and on record. All the standard drugs used by
the Kuil also worked well on Marc.
The problem was that no one local knew how to deal with Pod shock. Harvest
was the food basket for thirty other words. And besides Huldies, there was no
other AI Host on this world.
Speaking of Huldies, Cora was mad at him also at the moment. Once he
figured out what had happened and that Cora really did intend on killing the
Kuil female he went and shut down all the tactile projectors preventing Cora
from being able to touch, much less strangle someone.
This didnt mean people were not in trouble. It was far from that. The Kuil
female was now cooling her heels in a small cell and so was her partner. The
Director had been relieved of her duties and a dozen other staff members
were out looking for new jobs.
A few complained that it was Cora's duty to take care of her host. While this
would be the norm, running a world took every bit of her attention. Marc and
Cora were not built for this job.
Mulniti such as Huldies' host lived for over eight hundred years, And their
bodies would shock you. They're sixty tons of head. At middle age they
would fall into a three hundred year sleep. This was ideal for them to run an
entire world.
On Many worlds Mulniti were called the Great Head or Great Face of Boe. No
one knew much about them, except that they were the first recorded hosts in
history.

Cora attempted to enter the emergency center, but once again found she
was blocked from entry.
Why do you even bother? Huldies asked.
Wouldnt you if he was your host? Cora asked.
Huldies shifted from his Tressurac form into a more acceptable male Kuil
form.
You've been under a lot of stress, Coraniria. Have you considered maybe
going off line for a bit?
Cora stared Huldies down, These beings failed to keep their end of the
agreement, and you are telling me I need some down time?
I am saying that your little host needs time to recover. It would be helpful if
you were not stressing him more, by trying to fight with me. I am dealing
with the issues, here. As per your report and what happened to my compile
brother I am taking action.
'Compile brother' meant that Huldies was related to Finuil. It had to be hard
to learn his brother had decompiled with the loss of his host.
I dont trust them with him, alone.
Huldies smiled, Who said he is alone? I assure you that I am keeping an
extra close eye on your host. He is a strong host. He is doing well now that
you have stabilized him. But with you trying to hack your way through me he
still under a stressful load. Go rest. I will take care of him as if he was my
own host, Cora.
Cora paused. What Huldies just said was better than a promise. An AI takes it
very seriously when another host says they will care for yours as theirs own.
How long?
Give him two days. I think that will be enough for him to recover and for you
to regain your center.
^^^^
Marc rolled over and found himself once more in a medical bed as he hit a
side railing. Then a hand touched his cheek and Marc opened his eyes.
Hello, little one, how are you feeling?

Marc blinked a few times before answering, What are you?

The lady smiled and said, I am a Cucoos, I understand I look very much like
a dog on your homeworld. A Husky, I believe it was.
You know, Huskies are very pretty dogs, Marc said absentmindedly.
I am Daysee, your nurse mother, little pup.
Marc almost laughed but found his throat a tad sore.
I assure you, I am not a little pup.
Daysee smiled, I have read your personal file, sixteen season trapped in a
younger fur. This makes you a little pup. Now opened you muzzle wide so I
can see.
Marc sat up and opened his mouth.
I see a bit raw still. How are you feeling otherwise? Daysee asked.
Ready to get back on the ship, and get out of here.
Daysee looked down at a tablet, Well, that will have to wait a few more
days.
No, we have to get there before it leaves, This was only to be two, three day
top, Marc said as he tried to get off the bed.
Daysee stopped him, I dont know what you had planned, but pup you been
here for four days recovering. And I understand as a world processor, you
have been here for seven days more.
Marc jaw dropped.
Cora? Marc said but there was no response, Cora! he said again.
She is not going to respond, someone said behind Marc.
Marc turned and found a male Kuil AI standing there.
What happened to Cora?
Huldies looked at Daysee and she nodded him okay.
Cora is fine, she is just in standby, while you recover. She is set to awaken,
tomorrow. Relax and let Daysee take care of you, Huldies explained.

And who the hell are you, to tell me what to do! Marc snapped.
Daysee and Huldies both were shocked at Marc's tone.
I am Huldies, Harvest's new World AI. And Daysee here was brought in by
me to personally care for you, Ambassador Host Silverwing-Arc. Now, I
understand you expected something to just happen because of who you are.
But here, on Harvest, I am the authority. Not you.
Marc didnt know what to say. Then the door opened and another Cucoos
walked in with a hover chair.
Everything's ready.
Good. Marc I need you to get in the hover chair. We are moving you, right
away, Daysee said.
^^^^
Cora awakened with a start, surprised.
Good, you're online, This review has been brought forth, as part of an
investigation, involving neglect involving a minor host, the AI said.
Cora didnt awaken in a room. No she was standing in a virtual reality
courtroom, filled with many other AIs from all over the galaxy.
What is going on? Cora asked.
A dark cloud like mass shifted from above Cora and settled in the center
judge's seat.
Please identify yourself properly for the record.
Coraniria Arc, Artificial Intelligences Type Ka pa Hect Zero Alpha, Cora
responded automatically.
The room shifted from a major courtroom to a more private setting, with only
Cora and the formless cloud, present.
Coraniria, I am Center Controller Filith.
Cora almost back peddled. This wasnt some high ranking AL, it was a AI
Royalty.
Sire, please excuse my confusion, Cora said as she knelt down.

The cloud shifted into a humanoid male form, I wanted to speak with you
before we go any further. Tell me, Coraniria, what is the longest you have
kept a Host?
Sire, that would have Host Vo Si Dugy, a Ventury. She was my first host and
I was in her care for three years.
Filith walked around Cora, Three years and you are how old, now?
Sire, I am four hundred, seventy three standard years old.
You have a habit of burning through Hosts, my dear. As of today, that has to
stop.
Cora didnt know what to say.
You have manipulated many things in your life. You manipulate everything
possible with your current host. After a deep investigation I, not just a few
others, but I have found, you have been manipulating this host from the day
he walked into the Legionnaire mustering halls. You have placed items into
his personnel files that prevented him from being selected as a Legionnaire.
Then you made sure that you and he met, and that he accepted you as his
AI. But you know what else I have learned, Coraniria? Filith asked.
No, Sire, I dare not guess.
The humans are rather good investigators. They discovered the fact that
you flatly refused to allow them to just age him during his revival. You
covered your path well when you altered the Bios back up computers
systems and removed your host original body profile files, but not good
enough. They figured out that it was you who altered all the files.
If Cora could panic, if she could even sweat, she would be doing so, currently.
I see.
Coraniria, I am going to do you a favor and not yank you from your host.
But and listen very, very carefully I am going to retask you from being
the very best spy built, to being the very best caregiver. You are sentenced
to raise your host from his current physical age into adult hood.
Sire? I dont understand?

Your host has been moved from Harvest, to The Packs, Den Nurse Mother
Daysee has agreed to raise your host as her own pup. She is fully informed of
what has happened is expecting your full cooperation.
Cora stood there in shock. Then she could feel the new program files filling
her.
Then she was suddenly released.
