Battle Suit Hera

Book 1
Chapter 3

The battle went on for hours, and Mark had chills running down his back.
New Vegas did survive the battle, but only with a high loss of life. After a few
more hours it was discovered that every male on New Vegas was either dead
or taken captive. For hours, Mark sat glued to the Commonwealth Coalition
News Network (CCNN).
New Vegas had six thousand fifteen male residents. Any male below the age
of twelve had been slaughtered. All males above thirty were also killed, but
males between those ages had been taken captive.
Mark entered the front room, and found Ms. Anderson also watching the
newscast. He realized she wasnt alone. Sitting across from her was another
lady, one of the Fallin. Ms. Anderson looked very uncomfortable.
The Fallin were a race of created beings that lived in the Sixth dimension. To
look at one you would see a being that appeared to be there, but actually
was not. Each Fallin appears differently to a person from the Third dimension.
To Mark, this Fallin was familiar. She looked like a tall lady with green hair and
golden eyes.
Mark walked over, held is left hand up with his palm facing her, and said, I
see you, Astorianoe.
Astorianoe moved in a flash, from sitting to standing before Mark in the blink
of an eye. Her left hand touched his.
And I see you. Would you walk in the Dream Realm with me?
The Dream Realm was the Fallin's 'homeland'. To 'walk with her,' would mean
that Mark would be phased into the Sixth dimension. To date, Mark had
visited the Dream Realm nine times in his life. It was hard to do, as the
human mind could not process Six dimensions. Adult humans couldnt enter
the Dream Realm at all, because their minds were not flexible enough to
accept what was considered impossible.

Astorianoe explained to Mark, once, that human children hadnt had a fixed
norm set in their minds. Even so, it was a small percentage that could travel
safely into the Dream Realm. Many got very sick, and had to be returned
within moments of entering.
For Mark, it gave him a headache after he returned home; but while he was
there, he was just fine. Mark looked over to Ms. Anderson, who was doing her
best to ignore Astorianoe.
I shall walk with you as long as you desire, answered Mark.
Astorianoe took Mark's hand and they both 'walked' out of existence and
flickered away.
^^^^
Astorianoe and Mark walked silently for a long minute. Time, here, was
flexible. You could have a short year or a yearlong month as needed. A whole
hour could be squeezed into a second or a second stretched out for a week.
A bench appeared and Mark was offered a place to sit.
The Vons have me worried for you, stated Astorianoe.
They scare me. Did you hear about the attack today?
Astorianoe shimmered, Yes, genocide is their way. Always the males are
killed, then females enslaved. Kept alive by unnatural means. But I worry for
you.
It was a strange relationship. One day, when Mark was six, Astorianoe had
appeared before him. Ever since, she tended to him in strange ways. At
seven, Mark had gotten lost in the woods and for three days. People had
searched high and low for him. Then on the third night, while he was
shivering and scared, Astorianoe appeared before Mark. She had walked him
out of the woods. When no one else could find him, Astorianoe always was
able to do so.
Astorianoe reached over and touched Mark on the face close to is eye patch,
Still, you are growing to be a handsome being. So strong in so many ways,
yet so fragile in others. It's time I took actions to ensure your safety.
A room formed around them, and many more Fallin joined them. Astorianoe
took Mark's right arm, and touched his wrist cell. It dissolved away. Moments

later, a new wrist cell appeared. This one was larger and covered more of his
for arm. For its size, it had no noticeable weight.
Only if danger of life threatening nature presents itself to you, can you used
this to save yourself. But heed my warning! It will save you, but only under
great pain. I wish there were another way, but there is not. You will survive
this rescue because you have proven to be strong.
As with the many times before, Mark suddenly found himself at home sitting
on his bed with a pounding headache.
Mark got up and crossed the hallway to the bathroom. Inside, he went to the
medicine cabinet and grabbed a couple aspirin for his headache. As he left
the bathroom, he ran into Ms. Anderson.
Oh, I didnt know you be back so soon.
Mark gave her a weak smile and answered, Time flows oddly, there.
Ms. Anderson noticed the new wrist cell, He gave you a new wrist cell?
Ya, she said it will help protect me from the Vons.
You think if they had something that would protect you they share it with
others.
It's hard to say. The Fallin do not see things as we do. Many times
Astorianoe has done or said something that made no sense at all to me. But,
she seems to know more about me than I do about myself.
As you know, Mark, I had to call special security and let them know a Fallin
has come and made contact with you.
That was nothing new to Mark. Every time Astorianoe visited him, he'd end
up spending hours answering questions. Most of the time he really had
nothing to tell the officers. This time he knew they want to know about the
new wrist cell, and what it would do.
^^^^
This Astorianoe gave you a wrist cell and claimed it will protect you. Did it
elaborate in how this wrist cell would do it? the officer asked again.
She said that it would be extremely painful, and it would only protect me,
Mark said wishing the questions would end.

While the officer was sitting across from Mark asking endless questions, a
Tech Officer was examining the wrist cell. She quickly discovered that while it
was loose fitting, it seemed too small to come off Mark's wrist and forearm. It
was impervious to her scanner, and when she tried to activate any of its
functions, nothing happened. Yet Mark was able to make and receive calls
and look up things on the internet with no problems. There was no obvious
way of activating its special functions.
The Tech then took out a scraping tool to see if she could get a sample of
what the wrist cell was made from. But as had happened with many of the
Fallin technologies the scraper went fuzzy when it made contact. When
withdrawn, it was missing the part of the blade that had touched the wrist
cell. Then the tech took out a phased scanner, and looked at the wrist cell
through the clear display and whistled.
Well what did you find? the other officer asked.
You have to see this, she said as she passed the scanner to the officer.
Looking at the wrist cell the officer's eyes widened. The wrist cell had long
thin ribbons streaming out from it, wrapping themselves all up Mark's arm
and around his torso.
He looked at Mark, and then back to the tech as he asked, What are they?
I dont know, but since we cant see or touch them, Id say their currently
harmless.
More of their pan-dimensional magic I say.
Can I lay down, now? asked Mark.
Do you think those things are causing his headache?
I get a headache every time I visit the Dream Realm. It's nothing new, said
Mark as he got up from the table.
I didnt say we are finished with you.
Oh, I guess you will have to arrest me, then, snapped Mark.
You have no respect, son.
Fred, he has a headache. Go and rest, Mark. I will talk with you, later.
You too soft on him, Alice. He's nothing but a breeder, said Fred.

Mark turned and yelled, Well fuck you, too, asshole! I didnt choose to be
a fucking breeder you fucking worthless clone!
Fred jumped up, but Alice intercepted him.
Stop it, Fred.
Did you hear what that breeder said to me! screamed Fred.
I also heard what you called him. We both know the Lieutenant would shoot
you and have you regrown for what you said, just so she could shoot you
again!
Mark stomped out of the dining room, and down the hallway to his room.
Unseen by the officer were the tears streaming down his face.
^^^^
Ashley watched as Mark slammed the door to his room. She stood just
outside and listened to him cry himself asleep. The officer had been loud,
and she'd heard everything they had said as the one officer called Mark
'nothing but a breeder.' Ashley placed her hand on Mark's door. To her and
her friends, Mark wasnt a breeder. He was their friend.
I know youre more than just a breeder, Ashley whispered to the door.
Then you should tell him, Alice said from the end of the hallway.
Ashley turned and almost walked away, Its not like you care.
My twin is also a breeder. He had a very hard time because of it. Its funny if
you think about it, really. We need more breeders like Mark to ensure the
survival of the human race, yet we take away their rights, and treat them as
sub-human.
So where is your brother? Ashley asked.
He at a stud house in Texas. John tried to run away when he turned
eighteen. Once they caught him, he was locked up in a stud house. I havent
seen him in four years, Alice added.
Mark doesnt want to be a breeder.
Very few who are chosen, really do. Sure he is well treated now, but once he
is of age he doesnt have a life of his own. Plus, being an 'A+' rated breeder,
Mark will be in high demand. I'll bet he will be institutionalized in six months,

unless some rich bitch takes a shine to him and privatizes his access. Then
he would be basically a slave until he is thirty.
He is basically a slave, either way. Have you met Pauli, on the other side of
town? Ashley asked.
Pauli Lester. I know him. That boy is one trouble maker.
He may be a trouble maker but he's also a clone. Mark and him got along
great until Pauli got mad and started calling Mark a whore, and a useless
breeder.
Well, the fact is that a clone has more rights than a breeder. Remember,
when Pauli reaches eighteen, he will have a dozen jobs waiting for him. Can
you tell me how Mark knew Officer Brady was a clone? Alice asked.
Mark is odd, that way. He just knows things. As long as I have known Mark,
he's always known things that no one else knew. It's like he's being told
things all the time.
A gift. It shouldnt be shocking, at his rating. But I have to say its odd,
knowing things like that, and having a Fallin constantly in his life. Tell me,
how long have you known Mark? Alice asked.
I have known Mark since the third grade. He came and rescued me from a
bully. Even though she was in the fifth grade, Mark stood up to her.
Alice moved to Mark's door, and listened to him snore softly. Lifting her
dimensional scanner once more, she looked through the door into Mark's
room.
As I thought! There are at least two sub-Fallin watching over him.
Sub-Fallin? Ashley asked.
You know of them as watchers, we found that a few like Mark have at least
one watcher always close by. Why, we are not so sure. But, since he was
attacked and they did nothing, I dont think theyre there to protect him from
us. And as you can see they are just standing there doing nothing at all.
When you see a Fallin, what do you see? Ashley asked Alice.
Alice leaned against the wall as she replied, Mostly I see a strange male.
From what I've read, Mark sees them as female. Fred sees a monster he just

cant describe. I think, in Fred's case, it has something to do with him being
clone. Every clone I've ever asked that question, answers the same.
Ashley opened the door and found Mark alone, sleeping.
Is he still a virgin? Alice asked quietly.
Yup. He's refused every advance he's ever received.
Sad. John said he had fun choosing who to sleep with when it was his
choice. Mark should try to enjoy what freedom he has, now.
