India Gate

This picture was probably taken during the British rule in India. The Queen is being taken to
India gate by the soldiers for attending a ceremony. The road in the picture was also recently
renovated to facilitate this event. Earlier it was narrow, crowded by the Indian. But, after
construction of the Gate, these roads and area surrounding the India gate was restricted for
Indians except for few occasions when they were asked to enter. India gate was newly built
then and even Queen was amazed by the architecture. She even described it as one of the
most iconic creation under the British rule thus far. The structure was grandiose, it was
elegantly designed and it was so impressive that Queen rewarded the architect and asked
him to build a palace for her right in front of the gate which is today known as Rashtrapati
Bhawan. The ceremony was full of fun and frolic for the British soldiers and other executives
as well. They were excited to be part of this great ceremony in which not all were invited. In
the evening they were served with some of the best Indian foods. Finally, the ceremony
ended at seven in the evening.
