1. Two articles.
"Student Impressions Of Academic Cell Phone Use In The Classroom."
"Teachers' Stances On Cell Phones In The ESL Classroom: Toward A "Theoretical"
Framework."

To find these particular articles I searched the keywords: Cell phones and

classroom
I chose to use an education source database
I chose this database because I believed I would be informed or educated on
the matter of mobile technology as a setting in education; I would learn both
positive and negative aspects.

2.

"It's a Terrible Idea to Allow Cellphones in Schools."

Recently Mayer de Blasio has taken action to lift the ban against cell phones in
New York public schools. de Blasio states his biggest reason for lifting the ban is for
communication reasons and that the ban was unevenly being forced due to the
metal detectors in certain schools. Ofcourse there are a handful of people who are
contradicting de Blasio altogether. Teachers and even parents are saying that this
will bring about more harm than good. Teachers claim they have enough
responsibilities in school and having to police the children to have these cellular
devices in lockers and backpacks is havoc they do not need. Aside from teachers,
parents too believe cellphones will not only distract students, but subtract such
values as social communications.

4. TRAAP
Time- The article was written October 9, 2013. It has not been updated
Relevance- The article does answer my question in that it touches not only on

the negative side effects of phones in school, but also the positive.
Authority- The article is a blog based article written by a teacher with firsthand experience with the matter. They are qualified to speak on the batter

because as a blog based article; it is open to the public.

Accurate- The information is informative and even speaks of statistics; but it

technically cannot be trusted because sources are not listed.

Purpose- The article was written to inform people of how the particular
teacher deals with and views the topic of mobile technology in the classroom

and is also persuasive in trying to get others to have an open mind on the
matter.
5. There are many different forms of gathering information, whether it be
hunting it down at your local library or plugging a topic into your favorite
search engine, all have their advantages as well as their disadvantages.
Initially when I was searching for articles on mobile technology on my college
online library I was rather annoyed how many passwords I had to type in,
verifying that I was a student and had access to the information, the different
filters as well as navigation that I had to jump thru. Although this was a bit
more timely, I had a sense of relief knowing that the information would be
credible as my college campus would not allow false information to be
presented. But was it worth it? Later all I had to do was bring up google, type
in a few tags or keywords and BAM!, millions of articles. But was it worth the
time to sift through all of those options only to find out they arent even
credible due to the fact that the author isnt even provided. In conclusion I
believe that in researching both the internet article as well as the journal
article, it really depends on why it is that you are researching a given topic or
idea that should determine which method you choose to collect that
information.
