FS 1: The learner’s Development and Environment

School Campus and Community Visit

Target Competencies
At the end this activity, the FS1 will be competent in determining a
school environment that provides social, psychological and physical
environment supportive of learning.

Specific Tasks
1. Visit a school. Look into its facilities and areas that support learning (i.,,
classroom, library, playground, canteen, gym).

2. Accomplish the checklist as you move around the school premises.

3. Based on your gathered data in the checklist, describe the school


environment.

4. Make a reflection on the characteristics of a school environment on


that promote learning.

5. Present your idea of a good school environment through any of these:

 A descriptive paragraph
 A photo essay
 A sketch or drawing
 A poem, song or rap
6. A general observation of the campus and the classroom is an exciting
way to start your observation. As you move around the campus, jot
down your notes on the following:
• Describe the community or neighborhood where the school is
found.
• Describe the school campus. What colors do you see? What is
the condition of the buildings?
• Pass by the offices. What impression do you have of these
offices?
• Read the bulletin boards. What information do you find there?
• Walk through the halls, the library and the cafeteria. Look around
and find out the other facilities that the school has.

Observation Report

Kalayaan National High School


The Kalayaan National High School is located
at the Kalayaan Village at the back of Kalayaan
Elementary School. IT is a five storey building.
The condition of the building is good, its color is
light beige and they planted small plants in the
corners of the building. The location of the
school is quiet because the building is far from
the road. There are small houses in front of the
building but it doesn’t destruct the class. Each
Hallway is clean and the floors are shiny. Each
offices and department are organized and there
is bulletin board. The canteen and YECS store

Kalayaan National High School visualizes an
institution that provides a pleasant learning
environment among teachers and students, thus
producing superior academic achievement, good
health, harmonious relationship and a widened
participation and involvement in environment in
community services.
Mission
Kalayaan National High School recognizes
student’s rights, responsibilities and commits
itself to produce adequate learning environment
as implemented by DEPED’s curriculum.
