What do you think when you hear the word FICTION? Do you think about your
favorite scary story? Perhaps you imagine a story with zombies in it or
unicorns?
Through there are a few different types of fiction, the definition of
fiction is:
A story that is invented or created, and usually
in prose form.
Fiction relies on imagination and contains
elements or places that are not real.
Fiction can be a few words or hundreds of
pages.
Fiction is usually in book form around 100-300
pages.
A few examples of popular fictional stories are: Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, to Kill
a Mockingbird, Twilight, Frankenstein, Coralline, James and the Giant Peach, etc.
TYPES OF FICTION:
Historical- uses real elements (time, place, or person) in a made up
story
Young Adult- main character usually 12-16 yrs old that speaks to the
concerns of teenagers (life, friends, parents, growing up)
MEDIUM:
This story can be handwritten neatly or typed
The story should fall within the word limits
The story should also leave the reader with an emotion
