PeterCooksandGavinRobothamslongexperienceasteachersofarchitectureandtheir
regularworkingknowledgeofseveralincludingtheBartlett,AA,Harvard,SCIARC,
Columbia,FrankfurtandUCLAenabledthemtoincorporatearesponsetomanyanecdotal
criteriaaswellasconstructionalandclimaticobjectives.
Thebuildingisalong,airyloftontwotothreelevelsarticulatedbyaseriesofscoops:
definingstructureenclosuresthatcanbeusedforcasualmeetingsandcritsessions.
Theselinethecentralstreetthatgentlyrisesupthehilltopsite.Asbefitsahotand
sometimesstickyclimate,thebuildingisairyandfoldsoveruponitselfinaseriesoffan
likeroofsandslitswithadvantageistakenoftheeastwestaxistoclarifyaveryclimate
controlleddevelopmentofthebuildingenvelopethatincludessunshadeeyebrowsonthe
sundrenchednorthside.
