Monday-Saturday: 7:15 AM
Saturday Vigil: 5:00 PM

This week we celebrate the Catholic Schools Week. By

the grace of God, we have an Academy and Early Learning that have brought us much credit. We thank Mrs
Christina Malins for her dedication and hard-work. For
over a decade, she has been the Principal. Her love for
the School and for the Church is evident in all the time
and talent and treasure she uses to help the Students and
the members of our Parish. Together with her, we praise
and thank all the Dedicated Teachers and Staff of the
Academy. May the Lord bless them and their labor of
Love in educating our Children to be good Christians
useful citizens of our Nation.

We are not far away from the Period of Lent. Our First
Reading today, brings back to our mind the story of Jonah the Prophet. The Ninevites turned away from their
evil ways. The crisis in the Middle-east, especially with
the so-called Islamic State, is taking place exactly in the
same place as of Nineveh of old. Through fasting and
prayer, we shall storm Heaven, to change the hearts and
minds of people who perpetrate evil.
Saint Paul writing to the Corinthians, asks them to live
in the world, as if it was going to pass away soon. He
wants us to focus on things in Heaven. Business as
usual, will not profit a Christian. We must learn to detach ourselves from the things of this world, to be fully
evangelized and called CHRISTIAN in name and in fact.
In the Gospel, Jesus begins His preaching career. He
calls His First Disciples. We must listen to Him and be
involved in our own spiritual progress. Fr Sebastian

COME AFTER ME

January 26
Saints TIMOTHY and TITUS Timothy and Titus were disciples of Saint Paul the
Apostle. Timothy was in-charge of the Church at Ephesus. Titus took care of the Church on the Island of
Crete. The letters that Saint Paul wrote to them are part of the New Testament. They contain excellent
pastoral advice from Paul to them. Ever Priest and Pastor will benefit a lot from these letters. We are all
encouraged to read these letters of Paul to Timothy and Titus during this week.
January 28

SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS.

Thomas was born about 1225 of the house of the Counts of Aquino. Hence his name Aquinas. He studied at
Naples, Paris and Cologne. He taught, wrote learned books and contributed in an outstanding way to philosophy and theology. He died on March 7, 1274. His Feast is on January 28th. He is buried in Toulouse in
France

Church Bulletin: Bulletin deadline is Tuesday 12:00 noon. Please email notice and picture if applicable to
Father Sebastian at hfc830@gmail.com

Beginning this week-end, we will have parts of the of the book on the Outlines of the
Catholic Church published in our Bulletin. Hopefully this will help us know, understand and
appreciate our Faith better.
Today we will read about CREATION.

A. God is the Creator of all things, heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them.
1. Minerals, that have no life in them
2. Plants which have life.
3. Animals, Birds and Fish, which have bodies, life and the power to move about.
4. Human beings who have bodies, intellects and free wills
5. Angels, the highest creatures, are spirits without bodies. Angels have intellects and
Wills.
B. The names of the Three angels mentioned in the Scriptures are:
RAPHAEL, GABRIEL and MICHAEL
C. The angels were tested by God to accept his Will. Some chose to reject God.
These are the fallen angels. Those who accepted His will are the good angels.
D. The good angels are in Heaven with God. The fallen angels in Hell
E. The Chief of the fallen angels is SATAN. His previous name was Lucifer
F. Man is a creature composed of body and soul. He is created in the image and
Likeness of God.
PLEASE READ THE ABOVE AGAIN AND AGAIN. DO YOU BELIEVE ALL THIS?
OUR BELIEFS ARE TO BE BASED ON THE TEACHINGS OF OUR CHURCH>
NEW PARISHIONERS: Newcomers are encouraged to register with the parish and are welcome to participate in
all parish activities and ministries. Registration forms are available in the back of the Church.

CATHOLIC NEWS
1. The Pope warns the Roman Curia of Spiritual Illness. Pope Francis on December 22,
gave his Christmas Greeting to the Vatican
bureaucracy, during which he warned against
a host of spiritual ills to which he said the
Vatican officials are prone, including
spiritual Alzheimers and existential schizophrenia, public-seeking, the terrorism of
gossip, and even a poor sense of humor. Pope
Francis said that he hoped that his words
might serve officials as a support and stimulus to a true examination of conscience in
preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
2. Before the Pope went to the Philippines he
visited the Island Nation of Sri Lanka.
There he canonized an Indian Missionary
Priest, Saint Joseph Vaz. In 1995 when Pope
John Paul had gone to Sri Lanka, he had beatified him in Colombo. Father Joseph was
born in Goa, India in 1651 and died in
Kandy, Sri Lanka (formerly, Ceylon) in1711.
He helped establish the Catholic Church during the Dutch Calvinist rule of Ceylon.

DIOCESAN NEWS
Many Permanent Deacons will be ordained
at the successful conclusion of their Four
Years of Preparation and Study. Ordinations are planned in the various Islands. On
Oahu it will be Friday January 28 at 7 PM
at the Co-Cathedral.
CULTIVATING UNITY Sessions will be
held on all Islands. This is something new
in our Diocese. In keeping with the directives of the United States Bishops Conference, open and meaningful dialogue between the Bishop and Priests will be held
so that the work of the Mission of the
Church can be accomplished more fruitfully. On the Island of Oahu this initial
Session will be at the Cathedral on January
29, at 10 AM. Please pray that this new initiative will bring a better climate of cooperation, love and coordination of the spiritual and temporal activities of the Bishop
and the Priests of the Diocese.

PARISH NEWS
The Diocesan Committees on Building and
Planning will meet with Father Sebastian
and Ms Malins to chalk out a Master Plan
for the Parish and School on Tuesday January 27th at 10 AM. The outcomes and suggestions will be taken up by the Parish
Council for further discussions and implementation when the Parish Council meets
on February 5th. All members of the Parish
Council and representatives of all Organizations are encouraged to attend.
