Place students into 5 groups (Nomes) and determine a group leader (Noble of
the Nome)

Lesson:
Introduce: Introduce the Unit and give students time to create their
Noble name Card.
Create: Online History Logs via GoogleDocs and have each student
share with the teacher.
o Day 1: Your Nome name, your Leader name and the rest of your
group members.

Day 2
Materials:

Mystery of Egypt ~ Video
Lesson:
Watch: Mystery of Egypt movie- students need to write down in their
history logs 10 items they learned or have more questions about
ancient Egypt.
Report: Have students log 10 items they learned from he video/have
questions about Ancient Egypt

Materials:

Unit Vocabulary List (one per student)
Lesson:
ASK- What prior information do you know about Egypt?
LIST- Create a KWL chart on the board with the students, write down
information together regarding what they know, want to know, and
learned and have them record it in their Online History Logs
o Day 3 - KWL Chart
PASS OUT- unit vocabulary list to students. Nomes will be responsible
for an assigned Chapter
TELL- students that they will be creating a PowToon presentation on
their set of vocabulary words (5 per group, 1 per person). They are to
find an appropriate picture online that corresponds with their word, and
define it.
ASSIGN- Due dates for words to be completed for chapters 7,8, & 9.

DISTRIBUTE- Student study guide for students to file in their history
section of their binder.
SAY Yesterday we talked about our previous knowledge of Egypt.
Today we are going to discuss the importance of the environmental
factors on settlements and how Egyptian settlements were affected by
these factors.
PRESENT- Word wall vocabulary for Chapter 7
TELL students to complete workbook page 51 by listing the
environmental factors considered when choosing a new home
(geography piece)
READ- Chapter 7 (7.1-7.2) Environmental Factors
