Fifth Revision of IRC:6-2010 “Standard Specifications and Code of Practice for Road Bridges Section : If Loads
1nd Stresses” was published in November 2010 incorporating uptodate amendments till that time and thereafter
Amendments No. 1, 2 and Errata No.1 were printed in Indian Highways vide Notification Nos. 67, 71 and
73 dated 28% January 2011, 28 June 2011 and 28" September 2011
The Indian Roads Congress has decided to further amend the above document, Accordingly, the Amendment
No.3 is hereby notified.
This Amendment No. 3 shall be effective from the 1* August, 2012. 7

GENERAL REPORT ON ROAD RESEARCH WORK DONE IN INDIA - CALL FOR SUBMISSION
OF REPORTS ON ROAD RESEARCH CARRIED OUT DURING THE YEAR 2011-2012
‘One of the objectives of the Indian Roads Congress is to disseminate and propagate technical knowledge
and make Civil Engineers aware about National/International research studies. To propagate importance
of research and make available all research related information under single publication, IRC annually
compiles research reports on Road & Bridge Research works being done in India, from various organisations
like, MORTH, NHAI, CPWD, BRO, NRRDA, IITS, NITS, Engineering Colleges, Contractors, Consultants
and Researchers. With the help of Central Road Research Institute, the compiled data is published by IRC
as “General Report on Road Research Work Done in India” every yeat.
Organisations concerned with research and development, construction, monitoring and maintenance of
Road & Bridge works, Traffic, Transportation and Geotechnical Engineering, etc are requested to report
the findings of Research & Development Projects carried out during the year 2011-2012 in the relevant
Proformae, which will prove beneficial to the members of the highway profession, The Proformae are
available on the Website of IRC (www.irc.org.in) and can be downloaded from there. The Reports may

All conerete shall be of minimum grade M20 and shall be cast in accordance with stipulations mentioned
in IRC:112-2011. The strengths shall be specified in terms of the characteristic cube strengths, (fon
measured at 28 days. Stress and deformation Characteristics of various grades of concrete shall also be
in accordance with IRC:112-2011. Table III.1 gives the properties of different grades of concrete.
