My work in the library field began immediately after high school & my skill & devotion to librarianship
has only grown since. I live & breathe my status as librarian, & strive to share my love of books &
information to every person I encounter. In the year 2014 alone, I have read over four hundred books
for children & young adults alongside my passion for librarianship is my fervor for literature of all kinds
& for all ages.

My position at North Shore began as an assistantship in 2011 but upon my attainment of a MLIS in
spring of 2014, continued as librarian. Intended as a one- to two-year position, my time at North Shore
stretched to include an unprecedented third year due to my high level of service & devotion to the
school & its library. My daily responsibilities included provision of reference, Readers Advisory, &
technological support on the librarys front lines for faculty & students JK-12. I was additionally
responsible for the supervision & management of the library space & its inhabitants for most of the
librarys open hours. This included managing all circulation of library materials as well as overdue
notices, billing, & replacement of lost items. I also served as the librarys acquisitions department:
ordering, processing, & cataloging of new items. I managed all library expenses & budgets in
alignment with school Business Office records.

Implemented fiction & nonfiction genrefication of 18,000 item collection to iBrowse (Metis) classification
system: adapted system, reclassified materials, supervised relabeling process, recataloged. Presented I
Dont Dewey, iBrowse, detailing genrefication process at 2014 ISLMA conference.
Created & maintained curricular, promotional & instructional guides for materials, library programs &
offerings using Smore, Haiku Learning Management System, Pages, & Microsoft Office Suite.
Established library presence on social media sites: Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, GoodReads, & Tumblr.
Responsible for fiction book selection & collection development for grades JK-5.
Manage eRead Illinois e-book program for students and faculty, planned and programmed roll out
party, provided tech support for e-book checkouts across multiple devices and platforms.
Curated book recommendation lists for faculty, staff, & students; annual book talks to 5th grade.
Weekly storytime with senior kindergarten focusing on ISLMA Monarch nominees & curricular tie-ins.
Readers Advisory: students & faculty across all grades have learned that when looking for a good
book, I have at least five personally tailored selections.
Programs: Banned Books Week, National Library Week, Dr. Seuss Birthday Party, Winter Olympics viewing.
Oversee, manage, & nurture self-appointed student assistant (a 9th grader) in library work.
Trained & managed fifteen parent volunteers to assist in library throughout each school year.

Supervised & planned special programs for up to sixty children, most recently a Gaming Tournament for
grades 4-8 (Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl).
Designed non-traditional & innovative publicity for library programming (tape body outlines on the floor
for a forensic science event).
Prepared & facilitated annual Mock Newbery & Mock Caldecott discussions for Youth Department staff.
Reworked reading programs from traditional format to Evanced Summer Reader online software,
developed and administered annual staff training.
