BAD ART

Ce este Bad Art? Directoarea Museum of Bad Art , intrebata asta raspunde "Bad art is like pornography; it's
hard to define, but you know it when you see it," Povestea acestui muzeu din Boston incepe cand Scot Wilson, un
dealer de antichitati a gasit tabloul Lucy in a field with flowers intr-un tomberon de gunoi si l-a luat acasa . Aratandu-l unor
Asa cum afirma cei implicati in miscare in primul rand conteaza sinceritatea
putem lega de ideea avangardist dadaista a unei arte aleatorii, dar pana si acolo , arta isi gaseste entelechiea in aleatoriul
insasi.
Much of the Museum of Bad Art's collection has been rescued from the trash, or purchased at yard sales
and flea markets. They also receive donations from people the world over.
Persistenta in eroare , terminarea unui tablou vadit
gresit dpdv tehnic arata tocmai o anume persistena in tragic, in munca sisifica , si prin aceasta , eliminarea ideii de scop din
creatia artistica .
Co-fondatorul Jerry Reilly said in 1995: "While every city in the world has at least one museum dedicated to the best
of art, MOBA is the only museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting the worst."
co-founder Marie Jackson, "We are here to celebrate an artist's right to fail, gloriously."
the sociology of culture, wrote that MOBA is part of a social trend he calls "annoyism", where mass media venues
promote performances and artists who mix the deliberately bad with the clever. The Museum of Bad Art happens to
embody this trend, and further illustrates its central aim to mock the judgment system by which people identify what
is bad from what is not. For Kaufman, "The beauty of MOBAthough beauty is surely the wrong wordis the way it
undermines aesthetic criteria from numerous angles."[66] Amy Levin, describing how American history and culture
have been shaped by small local museums, suggests that MOBA is a parody of art itself, and that MOBA's
commentary, newsletter, website, and publications mock museums as authorities on what is good art. [50] The
director of the Ellipse Arts Center, a gallery in Arlington, Virginia, that hosted a traveling exhibition of MOBA works,
was astonished to see people's exuberant laughter because no one visiting the Ellipse had ever responded to art this
way. She observed, "If I didn't have a sign on the door, people might not think it's so bad. Who's to say what's bad
and what's good?"[67]
One Canadian visitor wrote: "This collection is disturbing, yet I can't seem to look away...Just like a hideous car
accident." Another visitor warns: "Her nipples follow you around the room. Creepy!" [2]

With its U.F.O.s, suicidal clowns, smiling genitals and other shocking, humorous or bleakly sentimental imagery, bad art
or vernacular painting and found art in polite circles has achieved the status of a genre, a tiny but devoted corner of the
art world. Its a place where the passion of an amateur is prized over the skill of a technician and where an artists identity is
of little or no importance. Its neither kitsch (too cheery) nor camp (too smart) nor outsider (way too good and way too
expensive). The best bad art is anonymous, strange, clumsy and cheap (or free, if youre lucky).

Mai are sens sa vorbim
