23 Page GRADING SCALE ‘The K-12 school year is divided into (4) nine week grading periods. At the end of each grading period academic grades are entered into the computer and report cards are generated for dissemination to students. ‘The grading scales adopted by the Birmingham Board of Education are: Grades 1-12 Kindergarten A 100-90 E Excellent B 89-80 S Satisfactory Cc 79-70 N_ Needs Improvement D 69-60 F — 59and below Numerical grades are due for each marking period in grades 1-12. Students should not receive @ grade lower than 50. It is very important that you decide what you want to record and that you properly communicate the grading requirements to your students. Progress Reports Mandatory progress reports are due forall students at each marking period (grades 1-12). Special education teachers are responsible for notifying the classroom teachers of the grades in that area, Special education and general education teachers collaborate and average the special education student’s grades. If instruction is modified, a statement to that effect should be written on the report card. HALLS Hall control is every adult’s job at all times. All students must understand school rules, Students must carry a hall pass. ‘Students need a Hall Pass when traveling through the halls without a teacher. ‘© Students must keep to the right in the halls and stairways. Students must know correct doorways, and directions to travel ¢ Teachers will escort their class all the way to their destination and pick them up from Art, Music, P.E., Library, etc. ‘Students must not run or play in the hallways. © Teachers must ensure they the entire class is visible when traveling through the halls including around comers and down stairwells. HOMEWORK ‘All students are expected to have homework. Homework is an important part of the instructional program.
