Adjustment to Voting Procedures

Whereas: It is the role of Marquette University Student Government (MUSG), to

identify, understand, and actively address and represent students’
needs, concerns and interests; and,
Whereas: MUSG has expressed a desire to “Be a senate: reach out and actively
represent all constituents”1; and,

Whereas: MUSG is held to a standard of professionalism by its constituents; and,

Whereas: MUSG has expressed the desire to promote transparency through

holding all of MUSG accountable for its actions2; and

Whereas: Accountability is a trait of any legitimate government organization; and,

Whereas: MUSG is obligated to allow its constituents to easily hold its senator(s)
responsible for his or her vote; and,

Whereas: The MUSG Communications Department has announced that it will

incorporate a voting record on the new MUSG Website.

Therefore: Let Section III of the MUSG Senate Standing Rules be amended to
include Part G, which will say:
“All legislation voted on by the Senate shall be taken in the form
of a roll
call vote.”
