What Lies Ahead

The most stressful feeling about senior year is having to research different colleges and
what your best choice would be. When choosing a college, it would be best that you had an idea
of what you wanted to study. A lot of people have said that even if I did not know what I really
wanted to do, that I could always take the general courses. That is exactly what I am pretty set on
also. I have three main colleges in mind that I have been researching; University of Southern
Indiana (USI), Western Kentucky University (WKU), and Murray State University (MSU).
When researching USI, I found out some interesting things that I did not really know. USi
was founded in the late 1990s. They have about 80 different majors that you can research or
study. They enroll about 10,000 undergraduate students, the university offers study-abroad
opportunities in more than 60 countries, and is host to the international students from around the
globe About.
USI has a wide range of studies that you can choose from. The only course I have really
looked into would be occupational therapy. In order to first apply for the course, you will need a
grade point average of 3.0. When signing up for your courses, you will need biology,
psychology, health professions, and extra science. You will need to complete an application for
admission to graduate studies. In order for your occupational therapy application to be accepted
you will have to be accepted by USIs graduate studies.
Western Kentucky was founded in 1906. The very first president was Henry Cherry. They
did not start any classes until January 22, 1907. On February 4, 1911 WKU moved the school
location at its present site on the hill. The next couple of years they were focusing more on

teacher training and certification. In 1927 the campus began to expand, it ended up merging with
a private young men school. When Henry Cherry died in 1937, Dr. Paul Garrett was the second
president. After all the expanding and more kids applying June 16, Western Kentucky College
had then became Western Kentucky University History and Traditions.
WKU is internationally known for their business and accounting programs. They have a
highly qualified faculty, interested students and professional advisors. When studying business
you can get the opportunity to join in any special programs. WKU has an Enactus program that
has been recognized as one of the best programs in the country. In the classroom they have a
unique combination learning that matches with real life exposure.
Murray State University was founded in 1922, they are located in Murray Kentucky.
There total enrollment is 11,166, undergraduate 9,172, and graduate 1,771. They get a lot of good
rankings through magazines. They were ranked 6th for the best school for Veterans among the
regional universities in the South by U.S. News. Washington Monthly has also ranked them
17th Best Bang for the Buck category 2014 Mission Quick Facts.
MSU has about 155 bachelor programs, 63 masters and specialists, and 6 associate
programs. There are about 5 fields that are the most popular for undergraduate programs, those re
nursing, animal health technology, elementary education, business administration, and biology.
The main campus for MSU has 74 major buildings and 2 libraries. They also award $100 million
annually in financial aid and scholarships Mission Quick Facts.
When researching these colleges it has helped me a lot on deciding what college I
want to continue my education at. Although I still do not know if I want to study the field

of occupational therapy while doing this paper I now know that if I do decide to study
occupational therapy, that my best bet would to stay here in town and go to USI.
Although WKU and MSU are also really good schools and have great things to offer. USI
is more of an advantage for me because I would not have to move out and get a dorm
room and have to buy new utilities.
