Central Focus or Big Idea of Learning Segment: The central focus of this lesson is
for students to understand the correct form to pass the soccer ball. Students will learn
how to use both of their feet to pass the ball in a game of soccer.

Specific Learning Objectives:


Students will learn the correct form to pass the soccer ball with both feet
Students will be able to demonstrate to the teacher and other students the correct
form of passing the soccer ball
Prerequisites:
Basic running skills
Student will have to have proper motor movement skills
Key ELD Standard(s): No English skills will be needed in this lesson plan in order for
students to participate. Teacher will conduct teacher modeling, continuous vocabulary,
and demonstration for student comprehension. If further assistance is needed for
understanding, student will paired with someone with dual speaking language to assist
teacher.
Challenging Academic language and concepts:

Soccer vocabulary-toes up, inside of the foot, passing


Teacher modeling what each vocabulary term
Proper demonstration of technique (with soccer vocabulary words) used by
teacher for student understanding
Instructor modeling provides scaffolding by demonstration (visual examples)
During independent practice student will model for instructor during independent
practice
Access to the curriculum / modifications:
This lesson entails vocal, visual and kinetic demonstration. If the students are not
proficient in English they will still be able to perform what is asked of them by
watching the demonstrations first and then practicing it themselves
If there is a need to modify the lesson to accommodate students with special
needs it will be done in a manner to help them find success in the classroom
Assessment:
Observation of students while they are performing what was asked of them to do.
If needed correct the form (Informal)
Correct form and demonstration by students at the end of the class (formal)
Technology Used

Smartphone or a tablet with an app that measures speed of an object (speed gun).
Students will measure the speed of a soccer ball during the class to compare the speed at
the beginning and at the end of the lesson. After data is collected it will be made into a
graph in Microsoft excel.
