Good morning my fellow prefects. I am here to tell you what I will bring to the Board if I am elected into the Council. As John Steinbeck said in Cannery Row: The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest are the traits of success. In modern society, it is getting increasingly difficult to meet the expectations of those above you, and even your peers, and to succeed without resorting to underhand tactics. However, I most certainly will not stoop to such practices when I serve the Board. Instead, I will bring with me kindness to my peers, honesty even in times of crisis, and openness to listen to the needs and wants of my fellow prefects and the student body.
