The case is about the inception of Copy General, one of the most reputed brands for copying had
turned its fortune by initiating International business after the fall of Berlin wall . It presents that it is
always worth a try to look on the different options in different counties even the with the smallest
kind of business. Copy General has a tendency to choose rather young country manager from the
host country and they find it easier to adapt and grow further.
1. There were different types of challenges for Copy General that include Economic
environment, Political risks, Legal system, cultural differences, code of conducts and Society
environment. These all impacts on the growth of any International organization. Specific
challenges for copy general are cultural differences, language and communication, the
proper location to start a business with, selecting the appropriate business partners and the
least but not the least finding a supplier who could support.
2. Paul had set a vision for himself, had the ability to insource new business in new locations
and the business spreading in Hungary proves this capabilities. He followed a good
leadership model with his managerial expertise.
3. Ken Chaletsky and Erno Duda two different people from different cultures. Ken Chaletsky
was ready to do some exercise and innovate things where as Erno Duda was did not sound
so sure of his work. But it seems they both were individualistic. Ken Chaletsky intended to
expend the business and wanted the company to be successful; whereas Erno Duda focused
on individual goals and success.
4. The learning from this case are cultural knowledge, dimension, leadership and response to
the opportunities.
