The Names Project
In this lesson plan I am going to talk about the Names Project and what the meaning of it is. I am going to
talk a little about the group of people who made the idea of this quilt and how they came about the idea.
The students will be able to realize that mourning for loved ones is fine to do. I am going to introduce the
project that we are doing and am going to connect the project and the quit together.
Grade : 6-8
Strand : Artistic Foundations
Standard : Demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of the arts area.
Arts Area : Media Arts

Bringing up past friends and family members that have past might make the students sad to be thinking
about them. It might be a little more tough for the students to think and talk about this part of their past.
I am going to show them that everyone has known a person who has past near to them and I will do the same

Get pictures together to hang up around the classroom. Have my quilts that I am going to show as an
example to the class ready to go prior to lesson. Make worksheet to hand out in class.
