You and your partner(s) have gone out
in search of new lands.
You are a religious group and are
hoping to create a new settlement
based solely on the religion you
support (remember this is just role
play).
The success of your new settlement
will depend on your ability to plan and
create your own city where you and
your religious followers will live.
1. Fact Sheet: A fact sheet
detailing the religion you are
involved in. This sheet has to be
at least one full page in length
and must include:
a. Origins
b. Area of the world it is
practiced
c. Present statistics
Checkpoint #1
d. Major beliefs
e. Symbols and their meanings
f. Sacred writings
g. Place of worship
This fact sheet must have your names and chosen religion on it, and may be
done in point form. Electronic copy available on your Freshgrade account.
Think about website credibility when accessing any online resources
As you use various sources to find your information, you must write them down
for your works cited list.

A Place to start
World Book Student through OKM
Library website
2. Works Cited: you will create a works cited list to acknowledge all of the
sources (print and virtual) that you and your group used to find information
about the religion you will be working on for this project.
- You must have at least 3 sources
- It needs to be in the proper format (not just a list of websites and books).
You may use Bib Me through the library website for the correct format.

3. Building Link Document: A document that explains how each building

is linked to the religion of your choosing. These need only to be a
short description (2-3 sentences) for each building, but it is necessary so
the council has an idea of why each building is being built.
There is an electronic copy of this document on your Freshgrade account,
but feel free to create your own template.
Building Link Document Example: In a Jewish settlement there may be a kosher
grocery store, and the group would have to explain the reasons for it being there
in the Jewish religion; or a Rosh Hashanah party store, and the group would
have to talk about the Rosh Hashanah festival and what it means to the Jewish
religion.
Checkpoint #2

4. Planned Map: A rough draft map of the area that includes

a. At least 8 buildings, each has to be tied back to the chosen
religion
b. One central building that signifies what you think is the most
important part of your religion. For most groups this may be the
place of worship, however others might find a different central
building to be more indicative of their religion.
c. Title of your settlement across the top. This is an important part of
the project, the better the name the more likely the council is willing
to accept your proposal be creative!
This should be completed by hand on a separate piece of paper. It must be
handed in as well as a photo uploaded to your Freshgrade account when you
submit Fact sheet, citations and building link documents.
