MBTA Information:

FY (2010) Annual appropriation to the MBTA of $160 million


FY (2014) Legislature approved an additional $115.2 million in contract assistance
under the Governors Way Forward: A 21st Century Transportation Plan
FY (2015) Yield net revenues in excess of expenses of $10.2 million
Fare increase will boost fare revenue to 31% of total revenues in FY (2015)
Total increase in revenues of $76.5 million (4.1%)
Total increase in expenses $66.3 million (3.6%)
Total increase in operating expenses $86.2 million (6.1%)
Total decrease in service expenses $19.9 million (4.5%)
Revenue recovery ratio = 44.9%
= 35.0% (w/debt service)
Total Non-Operating Revenue = $79.6 million
Total Revenue = $1.943 billion
Total Operating Expenses = $1.509 billion
Total Debt Service = $423.9 million

A seven member Board of Directors was appointed by the Governor with


expertise in transportation, finance, and engineering to oversee the new
Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDot).
Governing body of MassDot and MBTA, which will be part of MassDot but will
retain a separate legal existence.
MassDot is administered by a Secretary of Transportation, appointed by the
Governor as Chief Executive Officer.

John R. Jenkins (Board Chair) - former Mass Pike Authority Board Member
Andrew Whittle - geotechnical engineer, serves as an Edmund K. Turner Professor of the
Massachusetts Institute of Technologys Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering.
Janice Loux - appointed by Governor Deval Patrick, daughter of MBTA Laborer and
hotel waitress.
Elected first female president in Boston Hotel Workers Union (123-year History);
selected for four additional terms.
Executive Vice President of Unite Here, an International Union representing over
300,000 hotel, gaming and food service employees.
Robin Chase - founder and former CEO of Zipcar, the largest car sharing company in the
world

Joseph C. Bonfiglio Business Manager for the Massachusetts and Northern New
England Laborers District Council
Dominic Blue Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Massachusetts Mutual
Life Insurance Company
Earned J.D. from Boston College Law
