History of Robotics

What is a robot?
A robot is a system that can be simple or
quite complex. Almost every robot contains
the same vital elements. A robot can carry
out tasks and jobs that you have specified it
to perform.+

Characteristics of a Robot

A robot has to have senses, or be familiar with its own surroundings (sensors)
It has to have the ability to move whether it be an extremity, wheels, or something else
One way or another, your robot has to be powered. It can be powered by solar energy,
battery power, hydroelectric power, wind power, etc.
Lastly, the robot has to know what to do. A programmer puts the information into the
robot so the robot can carry out tasks

History of the robot


1495) Leonardo Davinci sketched a plan for a robot
1700-1900) A couple of life sized animatronics were
made
1913) Henry Ford makes the worlds first assembly line
1932) The first true robot toy was made in Japan
1957) The Soviet Union launches the first satellite
Sputnik.
1998) LEGO creates its first robotics system
