TheCVTLSisopentoallfamiliesandcaregiversintheComoxValleyregardlessofincomeor
financialhardship.WeuseStatisticsCanadaLowIncomeGuidelinesasourcriteriaforgiving
complimentarymemberships.
Ifyourfamilymeetsthesecriteria,pleasetellCVTLSstaffatthe
timeofmembershipregistration.
YoumaybeaskedtoproduceyourmostrecentCanada
RevenueAgencyNoticeofAssessmenttoverifyeligibility.IfyourfamilyhasPLAYbooklets
fromtheComoxValleyRegionalDistrictSportsandAquaticCentres,youmayalsochooseto
producetheseatthetimeofregistrationtoreceiveacomplimentaryCVTLSmembership.
Howitworks
Inordertoborrowtoys,fromtheCVTLS,youmustbeamember.Themembershipfeeis
non
refundableandrenewedeachyear
.
AnnualMembership$20peryear
Amembershipallowsyoutoborrow
5toysperfamilyfor1month,withonerenewal
(through
email,phoneorinperson)ifnototherwiserequested.
OneTimeMembership
ForthosevisitingtheComoxValleytheCVTLSoffers
onetimeusememberships
foracostof
$10witha$20depositreturneduponfinalreturnofitems.
Gear
Gearsuchasswings,exersaucers,bouncychairs,jollyjumpers,boosterseats,etc.maybe
borrowedasallotheritems,orwitha$50deposit(cashorcheque)gearitemsmaybe
borrowedforupto6months.Underthisextendedborrowingcondition,$5latefeesperweek
overdueapply.
Allmembersagreetoabidebythefollowingconditions:
AlltoysborrowedremainthepropertyoftheCVTLSandthatifanyitemisnotreturnedin
goodconditionandsuitableforfurtherborrowing,(normalwearandtearexcepted),members
mayberequiredtopayCVTLStheamounttoreplaceorrepairtheitem.
Iagreetoshareany
changesofaddress
andcontactinformationwiththeToyLibraryassoon
aspossible.
Iagreetoreturntoysingoodandhygienicconditionontheduedateshown.
IunderstandthatIwillnotbepermittedtotakeoutanyadditionaltoysuntilall
overduefines
arepaid
.
Iagreetomakeapaymenttowardthecostofreplacementorrepair(normalwearandtear
excepted)oftoyslostordamaged
.
AlthoughtheToyLibraryreservestherighttoreviseitsfeesandcharges,
noticewillbegiven
90daysprior
tothechanges.
IagreethatIamtheindividualsolelyresponsibleforthechildrenattendingtheCVTLSwhile
inmycare.
IwillNOTleavechildrenunattended.
Iagreethatitismyresponsibilitytoinspectandensurethattoysareageappropriateandin
goodrepairpriortoplay.
MissingPieces
Youwillbechargedongoinglatefees
($2perweek)
untilpiecesarereturnedoruntil
replacementcostisreached.Ifthesefeesarepaiduptodateyoumaykeepborrowing.
Latefees
$2
willbechargedtoyouraccountifanitemisnotreturnedontime.Anadditional$2per
weekwillaccrueuntiltheitemisreturned.Youarenotpermittedtoborrowanyadditionaltoys
untilallfeesarepaid.Latefeeswillbechargedifa
renewalrequestismadeaftertoyswere

.Arenewalmaybegranted,butlatefeeswillremain.
Thereisa$10maximumchargepersmalltoyand$20maximumperlargetoy.
BrokenToysorPieces
$5ischargedperbrokenpiece.Howeverifthebreakageisonapreviousrepairwhichis
notedinourrecords,nochargewillbemade.Pleasedonotmakerepairstobrokentoys.
Eachtoyisassessedforsuitabilityandallrepairsareenteredintoourrecords.Wewillstill
chargebrokentoyfeesforanytoysyouhaverepaired.Ifatoyisrenderednolongerusable
duetobrokenorlostpieces,wedoaskthatyoumeetustowardsthecostofreplacingthetoy.
Thisisjudgedontheageandconditionofthetoyinquestionandisatthediscretionofthe
boardofdirectors.
Batteries
Tokeepourcostslow,
wedonotprovidebatteries
foranytoys.Itisyourchoicewhetheror
nottopurchasebatteriestouseinCVTLStoys.Anybatteriesfoundintoysaftertheyare
returnedwillberemovedandplacedinabatterydonationbox.Membersmaytaketheseat
noadditionalcharge.Thesebatteriesmayormaynotworkandwillhavevaryinglevelsof
powerremaininginthem.
Care&Responsibility
Pleasedonotletchildrenplaywiththeboxesorplasticbags
inwhichthetoys,games
andpuzzlesarepackaged.Pleaseensureallitemsarecleanandcomplete(including
packaging)beforetheyarereturnedtotheToyLibrary.
Membership
ByapplyingforandreceivingapprovalasamemberoftheCVTLS,youwillbecomea
voting
memberofCVTLS
andhavetherighttoattendannualgeneralmeetingsoftheCVTLSwhen
convened(usuallylateJanuary/earlyFebruary).
WAIVER
IhavereadandagreetoabidebythepoliciesandguidelinesoftheComoxValleyToyLibrary
Society(CVTLS).Iunderstandthatalthoughtoysareidentifiedaccordingtomanufacturers
agerecommendations,itistheultimateresponsibilityofmyself,theparentorcaregiverto
chooseappropriatetoysandsupervisetheiruse.Iunderstandthatbikes,trikesandother
outdoorride
ontoys
doNOTcomewithahelmet
.Iagreetohavemychildrenwearaproperly
fittedhelmetthatisingoodworkingconditionwhiletheyusethebikes,trikesandride
ontoysI
haveborrowedatalltimes.IacknowledgethattheCVTLS,itsstaff,boardandvolunteersare
notliableintheeventofinjury,deathorlosssustainedthroughanythingthatoccursonthe
premisesorfromtheuseoftoysorequipmentborrowedfromtheCVTLS.
