Assessment & Evaluation

The students willknow what these constructions mean.

The students willknow how to perform all the steps for
these constructions with a compass and straightedge.
The students will...understand why these constructions
exist with only a compass and a straightedge.
The students willbe able to successfully draw the
constructions for these.
The students will be able identity the use of QR codes and
successfully check answers/ use as a resource for help.

paper (worksheet), pencil, compass, straightedge, iPad (smart

phone/iTouch if it has a flash player), headphones, smart
board.
1. As a class; start a discussion on how they think
constructions are made, what materials, and how they might
construct them. Guide the discussion in the right directions
by prompting questions. After the discussion has concluded
that you do these with only a compass, straightedge, and
pencil, share some of the history of constructions.
2. Use the Smart-board to perform these constructions. Use a
compass and straightedge on the Smart-board. Go through
all of the constructions, let the students give suggestions on
the steps to take.
3. Give students directions of how to use QR codes. Show an
example, step by step, of what the students should be doing
with the activity and the QR codes.
4. ACTIVITY: (The worksheet with the QR codes); Allow the
students to work in partners or alone. The worksheet has
directions of which construction they will be making and
the start of it. Next too the space is the QR code. Students
should try to do the construction without the aid of the QR
code. They can talk with partners about them. If they need
help or want to check their answers, they will scan the QR
code on their iPad. A video link will directly pop up. The
video shows how to make the construction and has step by
step directions written below the video. The students can
stop and start the videos as much as desired.
Assessment: Exit slip- The students will write a few sentences
describing what constructions are, how they are made, and
what materials they can use.
Evaluation: Exit slips and worksheets. I will grade the activity
worksheet as well as look at the exit slips to decide if the
students are understanding the concept and performing the
constructions correctly.

Constructions with QR codes:

Name:__________________
Key words: bisector=two equal parts, congruent=the exact same,
perpendicular= forms a right angle, parallel=the lines will never touch.
1. Construct a line segment congruent to this given line segment.

2. Construct the perpendicular bisector (right angle) of this line segment.

3.

Construct a perpendicular to the given line from a point that is not on the line.

4.

Construct a perpendicular to the given line at a given point on the line.

5.

Construct the bisector of this angle.

6.

Construct an angle congruent to this angle.

7. Construct a line parallel to this line through the point that is not on the line.
