Synopsis: The question of to build or not to build has went back and forth at an
increasing rate, the opinions of many people of both the nations of Canada and the
United States of America seem to fluctuate just as rapidly as well. The project is
valued at around 8 Billion dollars between both nations and the final decisions have
been left to five key players.
The Major Players: Congress, The Courts, TransCanada, the State Department,
and most importantly the President of the United States of America all have a major
say in the deal. Environmentalists in both nations believe that this believe this
pipeline could incur serious ecological repercussions. However the report has
focused mainly on whether the players will allow the pipeline to be built and not of
any consequences down the road. As of February 24 th however this article has
become outdated as President Barrack Obama made the decision to personally veto
the bill, and encouraged the people and government to think of the future of energy
expansion in America, as more than one pipeline.
