construct correct sentences but he need not
have to explain the rule
Appropriacy

- the choice depends on the setting, the


participants, the purpose, the channel
and the subject
- these factors influence the speakers
choice of suitable words, the tone of
the speakers voice, his choice of
sentences, the level of formality and
how he says what he has to say.
