1. Introduction: Definition of terms; ethics, morality and professionalism.

2. Principles of ethics and the five pillars of vet profession.
3. Introduction to veterinary jurisprudence. Values of veterinary medicine and Vets code of
conduct.
4. Animal welfare: Philosophy of animal welfare. The five animal freedoms. Welfare in
slaughter animals.
5. Ethiopian Veterinary Legislation II. (Meat Inspection Proclamation No. 274/1970, Meat
Inspection Regulations and client- patient relationship
6. Violation of animals welfare, or abusive use of farm, working, companion, pack, wild,
experimental and entertainment animals
7. Criminal code of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Proclamation No. 414 /
2004 dealing with crimes committed in contamination of pasture, water, spreading of
animal diseases, environmental pollution, mismanagement of waste, usage of poisonous
substances, unlawful practice of the veterinary profession.
