Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Education and/ or Training Required

The skills you should have for this occupation are critical thinking, speaking, active
listening, monitoring, writing, reading comprehension, social perceptiveness, science,

mathematics, and instructing.


Recommended high school classes are anatomy, physiology, math, and biology. A good

extra-curricular to join is the technology club.


A college major you should have is medicine. There is no license required but you should

take training courses.


Post graduate studies are optional but not required.

Responsibilities and Daily Activities

There responsibilities are to measure/ record following physician's prescription, detect


radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies, explain test procedures and safety precautions to
patients, produce a computer-generated or film image for interpretation by a physician,

and process cardiac function studies.


As a technologist you can specialize in nuclear cardiology, computed tomography,

positron emission tomography, or magnetic resonance imaging.


I would work for a diagnostic center, educational institution, hospital, or research
facilities.

Salary Range

The salary range is $58,457- $84,309 a year.


In Kentucky the range is $58,504 - $72,947 a year.
Your salary can be influenced by how long youve worked, where you work, and youre
degree.
