What are the conventions of music videos from this genre?

There are a few key conventions of Dance music in Videos but the key one I have found is
Cutting to the beat. Seeing as these type of Songs have a lot of beat to them it only seems
fitting to show them in music videos. Another one is Jump Cuts. Although this type of
convention is usually found in movies it is very popular and often found in Dance Music
Videos. With a build-up to a drop the screens often quickly cut to another simultaneously in
in time with the beat.

How are you going to meet these conventions in your video?

Style (in-concert and as live footage; animation (stop motion, digital); interpretative; narrative;
impressionist; surrealist; pastiche; parody; referencing; homage)

The style of my music video is going to be Narrative/Interpretative.

I am going to meet these conventions by including Jump Cuts in the Skateboarding video. I
will also use slow-mo. This gives the effect of professionalism in my music video.

Costume

There is no costume really involved apart from skate wear and a skateboard which Sonny

will be dressed in.

Lighting
I will be using natural light in my production as it will mainly be filmed outside around the time
of midday. There is small scenes which use unnatural light which is when I film inside. I dont
think I will have to adjust the light at all for this scene.

Research

What music videos have you watched to research your genre?

One of the music videos I researched was Under Control By Calvin Harris. This music
video include a lot of conventions used in the dance Genre Music Videos. Such as cut
to the beat. I parts in this music video the frames change to the beat of the music.

How have these videos influenced the decisions made? This video influenced my idea
because it made me think of slow motion clips and cutting to the beat with my song. This is
a good thing to include in my music video because it is eye catching. This screen shot here
shows slow motion videos which is very effective in Dance Music videos.

Lyrics
Insert the song lyrics below
We go hideaway in daylight
We go undercover, wait out the sun
Got a secret side in plain sight
Where the streets are empty
That's where we run
Everyday people do
Everyday things but I
Can't be one of them
I know you hear me now
We are a different kind
We can do anything
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
Me and you
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
Me and you
We could be
Anybody's got the power
They don't see it

'Cause they don't understand

Spinning round and round for hours
You and me we got the world in our hands
Everyday people do
Everyday things but I
Can't be one of them
I know you hear me now
We are a different kind
We can do anything
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
Me and you
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
Me and you
We could be
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
Me and you
We could be
All we're looking for is love and a little light
Love and a little light
(We could be)
All we're looking for is love and a little light
Love and a little light
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
Me and you

Meaning of the song

Does the song have a meaning? If so, what is it? The song I chose portrays the meaning
of Love as well as Hope. As you can see from the lyric above it shows a girl singing about
how she wants her and her lover to be Heroes or Amazing in other words. When she sings
about We Could be she is saying she hopes that their love will succeed.

How will your visuals relate to the song? (Illustrate, Amplify or Disjuncture)
My music video does not relate to my song because Im using the song because I like it and
because of the addicting beat. It does not illustrate Hope or Love. Or have anything to do
with Heroes.
