5= Excellent 4= Very good
3 = Good
2= Needs work
1= Poor
These points are then totaled and divided into the total possible points to obtain a
percentage grade.

1. Themes in Readings: Does the papers treatment of the assigned reading as described,
including direct references, show an accurate understanding of the main themes and the
assigned reading by the CDF and Cheng?
2. Evidence: Does the choice of citations demonstrate a firm command of the entire text,
not just one part?

Analysis: Does the paper demonstrate thoughtful and well-reasoned
introspection/analysis on the main themes of Cheng and the CDF in light of the students
social location as described in Part 1 of the paper? Does the paper exhibit creativity,
personal appropriation of the issues and questions surrounding the topic?
4. Style: Does the paper overall show a clear structure: introduction, body and conclusion?
Do the paragraphs follow one another smoothly? Is the writing style clear and easy to
follow? Is the paper free of plagiarism?
