IMPACT

Economical Impact:

Even when you are travelling at a very safe
speed, airbags can deploy. Airbags are very
expensive in general. So when an accident
happens, you might need to pay double the
damage price of your car for your airbag.

Ethical Impact:

Airbag has its own pros and cons. It saves
many lives yet it can also take many lives
too. It causes some serious injuries such as
one girl went blind due to the airbag
deployment. So is it right or wrong to have
airbag?

Moral Impact:

Even after there were accidents caused by
airbags, the government enforced every car
to be packed with airbags for the
everyones own goods. The owner of the
car will be penalized if the car doesnt have
airbags. But is it really for everyones own
goods to have airbags? Since the airbags
cost around $400-$1000+ and sometimes it
can cause accident too so is it right to
penalize the owner when they have to pay
for their cars damage and the airbag
renewal?

What is an airbag?

How does an airbag work?

Do airbags have disadvantages?

As being defined by the Merriam

Webster dictionary, airbag is an
automobile safety device consisting of
a bag designed to inflate automatically
especially in front of an occupant in
case of collision.

According to Newtons First Law, if an

object is in motion, it tends to stay in
motion unless there is force acting
upon it. The object stays in motion
because of momentum. When a frontal
head on collision accident occurs, the
car decelerates very quickly which
causes a steel ball to move forward
and turn on the electrical circuit to start
the process of inflating the airbags. A
steel ball is designed for crash sensors.
An airbag is quickly filled up with air
within 0.03 seconds and deflate in 0.1
second to stop the passenger from
moving or being thrown out of the car.

Besides the advantages that airbags give

us, there are also few concerning
disadvantages of airbags. Airbags save
many lives but it can also take away
peoples lives too.

Why are airbags essential?

How is it useful?
A lot of deaths or serious injuries are
caused by a head on collision accident.
So one of the solutions to this prevent
these problems from happening is
airbags. Airbags are invented to protect
the passengers from a serious impact
of the accident.
According to the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA)
data, airbags are useful because it
saves a thousand lives throughout a
year.

The disadvantages are:

+If the passenger doesnt wear
seatbelt, it can cause serious injury
when the airbag deploys.
+Airbags are not for 13 years old and
under.
+Airbags are so expensive, it costs
from $400-$1400.
+ Airbags are most harmful for children
and infants.
+ If the passenger is not in a proper
position, it could cause injury too such
as chest injuries, concussions and
whiplash.
